The Missabe Road: Safety First
Here is the scoop on the GMD1. About a two years ago the Canadian National didn't need the locomotives. They were selling them off to other shortlines. Some have survived and sold off. My dad had two of those locomotives on his train a year ago and was taking them down to southern Wisconsin for some shortline that had bought them.
There a pretty cool locomotive. At first I thought they were some type of NW5 and thought they were the weirdest NW5 ever. But found out later that it was Canadian Nationals version of the RS1.
