Welcom to the forum Robin. I think you will find these forums a great resource. For the model side of trains you should go over to the MR forum though.

Well I did run one of that on my web site but I am planning on reistalling it after I have got some photos and illustruations to the site. With only terxt on it got a bit too heavy....
On cars? I guess a good start is to buy a walthers cathalogue and check that out, as it is very handy to have anyway. Another good source to see whatis available is to write "cars 1/87" on Google you get 1 730 000 hits.
One good source to get vehicles more cheap is like doing it in scale 1/1, you buy them second hand. Most european firms offers the latest or typical european cars from 1950-1960 period, so this one more reason to go to Ebay, so you will get more models of cars that is not the latest model. On US-cars the offerings are still poor. If there are some they are usually the top of the bill models like rag tops or de luxe hardtop coupes. Only exceptions are the mid seventies MoPars, a nineties Ford and a Chevy from Busch and Walthers. But on the other hand the paitr of typical street rods from Jordan are very cool and very detailed.... A perfect set for a garage scene, am at east planning to add a custom car shop inH0-sclae and these rods are more than perfect.
What I would like to see is more plain vanilla cars, like foor door sedans, as they were and are more common and you can deck them out as police cars (don't forget the to park a couple at the local donut shop!) and taxis as well as ordinary cars.....
