  • Those are called "Yard Jockeys"

In the old days any tractor with a single axle drive did that job. Today specialized machines are built for that work. I dont know that there are any existing in a affordable price for this part of the hobby.

You can use a day cab tractor with two axles for this work until a more accurate model of the Yard Jockeys come out.
  • Ottawa yard tractors are a part of any large truck terminal, not just intermodal facilities. They are equipped with an elevating fifth wheel and a rear door in the cab to make the moving of trailers within a terminal quicker and easier.

They are the truck equivalent of a yard switcher.
The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul
  • Would that be smaller than a medium small truck? [:D]
