Locomotives are manufactured outside the United States!
There is no "other" selection on your poll, so I can't vote!
My favourite is EDI who build their own locomotive designs using some EMD components.US locomotive designs are unsuitable for use in most of the rest of the world, generally being too tall and too heavy. We have 3000 HP 1067mm gauge AC motor six axle locomotives that weigh only 120 tons, less than the average GP unit.
But what about English Electric, built both in the UK and Australia, Henschel of Germany, Nohab in Sweden or even Dalien in China. All of these are well known manufacturers who have built locomotives right back to the steam era. Dalien has probably built more diesel locomotives than any US builder except EMD and GE.
