I don't know if you guys have ever heard of Camak, GA, but it is a railroad town just west of Augusta, GA. Many years ago it was the central hub for the GA Railroad. Anyway, the town host a festival every year called Railroad Days. It's a great festival, but we really need a train ride......a real train ride. I talked with a couple of people at CSX and I have checked out trains for rent, but I'm not having much luck. Do any of you know how I go about renting a train that will come to Camak? Martin Marietta is a quarry in Camak that has a dedicated short-line. The people there provide a shuttled tour during the festival and have agreed to let us use their track if we can get a train. I talked with a man at CSX and he said we would have to talk to the train master about schedules, but they may let us do it. I know one year during the Master's Golf Tournament, a passanger train stopped in Camak. I also remember a steam train coming there when I was younger and we rode it to Thomson, GA (about 15 miles). For more info about railroad days, you can visit our website at camaksrailroaddays.com.
I would appreciate any help or suggestions you train enthusiast may have. [:)]

You might want to ask if they can help get a train there. Anyway its great we have Augusta area railfans besides me and maybe a few others that don't post here. I have been to Camak a couple of times nice place but needs more trains to come by than what I have seen there. I haven't been to the Camak raildays when is it?. Drop by any Saturday on the corner at 6th St. and Taylor in Augusta(where NS ends street running).
