How have You gotten Your In-Cab Tour/ride???

  • How have you gotten your In-Cab tour/ride? I gotten one in-cab tour @the NS/Amtrak Station in Greenville SC. The New Engineer after the Crew Change let me in the cab after asking me of a UP SD70M. It was awesome...I would like to do it again...how do you get one easier instead of just waiting for the question???[:D][:D][:D][:I]

  • Well I have a couple relatives that work for the UP so I get cab rides when I can. Other then that it's being in the right place at the right time.
Here's me rideing SP 8179 over Tehachappi on a 8500' hotshot TOFC train.
  • i have no way of doing so. and i hate it. man that looks fun

    Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.

  • Its not wise to discuss this in the open, as railroads are already peeved about railfans getting on property.
I however, get rides at my workplace.

Max I wouldn't worry about other people. If they want to post pictures, let them.

I'm learning GCOR this next month so hopefully if everything goes well I will be running sooner than I think. Yes I have run them also.
But besides that I usually get a ride home in the cab.
    Pretty sweet.

Max. To bad your going to miss out on the operating session at Mr. Keppers house tomorrow.

  • Got to at the right place in the right time. I've got a couple; once at Glennwood Yard Colorado, the crew waved me over and let me drive 7 AC4400Ws across the yard to their waiting coal train!!! They gave me the brake handle to remember it by (SP #225).

Got a cab ride to Danbury once in an FL9 because my mother was a commuter and got freindly with the conductor who knew an enginer who was retiring.

Got inside the NS Business train at Penn Station Pittsburgh about three months ago, was taking some shots and the porter asked if I wanted to come aboard.

Of crouse, for the first and second, I was 13 or 14 years old. It seems the younger you are the nicer people are. Now that almost 19, my time to get free-bes are running out
  • [censored] you guys are lucky! I'm grateful to get a friendly wave! [:D]

  • Iv'e just been on road switchers with GP9's and GP38-2's .. but for me it was a small city in a small yard with crews who didnt mind railfans. Got to know the crews and so I became lucky

Max, Dan mackey knows the guy so you wouldn't have to worry and Dan and I are going to see it tomorrow.
Plus he's not old. he's not even 40 yet.
Plus his railroad is much bigger than Dan Mackey's
Yes I did ride last year quite a few times on the train home.
I was never with you guys when I went home. and usually it was on a Sunday when the last lester run train went out. Kale would have to stay to lock the museum up and you were never down there on a Sunday.

  • Ah yes, I've gotten three. Two in AC4400s, one in a GP38-2. The GP38-2 was doing some local switching at my local sattelite yard, the first AC4400 was idling at Lake Louise, and the second AC4400 was working to fix some DPU problems in the same yard. Good times, good times..
