Don't they have some use as switchers somewhere on the system? Sorry Alexander, but these engines are much too big (and fuel-guzzling) for local service. We're talking almost as long as some of the really modern engines here.
QUOTE: Originally posted by Lord Atmo good point, alec. so am i right in saying that WC obtained so many pure SD45s because when the other roads were getting rid of them, WC bought those very units? it's also good to see a halt in retiring the units. have any been bought yet? and how many WC geeps are left? hell, how many non-SD45 WC units remain? Alec, i'm sure you know this
QUOTE: Originally posted by wctransfer 1745 does, but did you mean 7496? Yes, thats the reason, as many roads wanted them gone. The WC bought them pretty cheap, and made them some of the best running SD45s around. I havent heard anything about them being bought. Geeps, most all besides the GP30's and the GP7Mr's and GP9's are still running. Most all of the GP40's 3000-3025, then the two GP40-2's 3026, 3027. GP38-2s 2001-2006. Alec
