I am going to take an aspirin then lay down....reminds me off paulcytensa I'll try... Ham: The F40PH's are worn out piece's of cr*p. They were, and still are worn out, beat up, and better off scrapped unless you want to tottally rebuild it. And then you're faced with finding part's. Which you're thinking, "there's plenty of them" No, theres not, the ones from the F40Ph's are worn out, so you'd be rebuilding a engine with the same worn out parts. Tourist RR's wanting F40PH's, some would yes, but most wouldnt as they know there worn out, most would rather take the relible ALCo, then a worn out F40PH.
QUOTE: Originally posted by Ham549 F40PH's have already proven themselves. If you built new ones and added some newer components you would have a better locomotive instead of a brick with a cramped cab.

I have been going every March to Chicago and I don't see the genesis replaceing them. I would like to see some proof please that these units are worn out. Otherwise please don't make up things like this. James
