  • Over the years I have acquired quite a collection of mainly Pentrex videos. My main interest is US steam.I enjoy watching ther. Recently have been getting the videos on great train rides around the world. Those I probably will only see on tape. I have visited a number of tourist railroads and have their videos also. Durango and Silverton, Cumbres & Toltec, The Cass RR, Great Smokey Mountain RR, Napa Valley RR, Steamtown, Strassburg RR, New Hope and Ivyland RR, and a number of train museums and restored roundhouses North Carolina and Savannah Ga). My wife's family are also big railfans too.

  • I have purchased many RR videos in the past several years, both from Kalmbach and Pentrex. Have just recently ordered my first RR DVD and would hope that Pentrex expands more of it's library onto DVD and that Kalmbach would also consider offering it's videos in DVD format.

  • Total library of videos (including DVD's) is 142. Have only acquired DVD's over the last 1-1/2 years.

  • I have over a dozen railroad videos on both VHS & DVD. Most of them are ATSF. I have "Santa Fe Odyessy I and II" on DVD. Those are great! I'll get the third part later on. I have three old movies that I taped from the AMC channel. "Danger Lights" (filmed in the 1930's featuring Milwaukee Road operations), "The Silver Streak" (not the Gene Wilder/Richard Pryor version. This '30's drama features the building and unveiling of Burlington Route's "shovel nose" streamliner), and "The Denver & Rio Grande" (western movie on the building of the D&RGW. What makes these three movies so great is that the steam and diesel sounds are authentic, and not produced by Hollywood sound effects.
    All the Way!

  • My modelling subject being Europe, I've found a great series put out by a British production company that covers modern operations in most European countries. Oddly enough, it's called 'European Railways.' Advertisements for it can be found in another English periodical called Today's Railways. I have a few other videos, including a cab ride on the (recently) old mainline between Frankfurt and Cologne(some of which is the section I model).
Remember, ordering from Europe may mean you have to have the means to play VHS/DVD in the appropiate format(PAL, DVD region).
