Hello all,
I'm interested in knowing what your favorite paint schemes of the more modern railroads are. I know lots of people have that favorite paint scheme in the early years but I'm talking about schemes that may still exsist in modern era. Please include a picture if you want.
For starters I like the Burlington Northern's cream & and winter green executive paint scheme on the SD70MAC. My cousin works on these units in Kentucky.
Interested in hereing your thoughts.

hi from england , i got into american loco's about 18 mth's ago
big time ive now got approx 500 h.o. loco's you name it ive got it if i hav'nt i want it!!!! all the different paint schemes you folks are so blessed over there but as my fave road is the southern pacific i've got to go with that livery there's just something about the "bloody nose " livery maybe its because i adore tunnel motors they are the tops in my book a classic hard working u/s. loco

Sorry to be rude, and because you are new, probably didnt know this, but this particular topic has been discussed and rediscussed and then over and over again. Try doing a search for the thread you will find it.

Aw, come on..since 1975..well, if it's applicable, I'd say CPs multimark paint scheme, because it was painted on units until the 80s, eh?

Rock Island BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hehehehehe I do like the 70 mac ones you mention. BTW the Barf Bonnet passed me going east last week as a dpu unit. If it hadnt been dark I would have tried for a pic my wife doesnt know just how ugly this motor is. Probably on its way back into the mines now.
Plus give me Iowa Interstates scheme ( now even cause of the nose hearld)

I hated the BN green and black - BORING! But I like all the new BNSF schemes. I find them all to be classy and give an impression of a railroad going places.

I'd have to go with the Western Pacific's silver and orange schemes. Their black/white and green/orange are okay, but the silver/orange on those F units and Geeps just stands out so perfectly. Besides silver is my favorite color.

Oh and Coborn, give 'em a break. You may have spent hours of your life at this site and seen this topic before, but many haven't. It's good to repeat topics sometimes, just to hear new ideas or opinions. If you don't want to see a topic repeated then just ignore it and don't bother entering it, simple as that.

I know coborn35 is going to come over here and slap me, but I am a big fan of BN's Cascade Green. I also like the Montana Rail Link Sky Blue, UP Armur Yellow, and the new BNSF paint scheme

Glad to see I am not the only one who likes the BNSF H3, Slash, or whatever. I have to admit, I think it is the coolest one. Love the orange and black

Erie-Lackawanna was going strong in 1975, so my vote goes with them. I have seen, on rare occasion, a freight car still carrying the E-L logo. Any that exist today may be gone tomorow, so if you see one grab a photo of it.

For the same reason as cited above, I will say that Lehigh Valley's brighter red with a large LV diamond herald, outlined in white with white chevrons (later applications)on the front of the unit on,RS11s(both), C420s,C628s/GP9/18s/38-2s and U23BsIs my choice for best scheme since 1975! I miss that line!!!NOW, if one draws the line in 1976, the selection from my perspective is Delaware & Hudson's Champlain Blue/Grey with smaller hood side numbers as on their GP39-2s as delivered (as opposed to the original version of this scheme without numbers anywhere on the unit save for the numberboards, or the awful version of this scheme with large numbers on the hoods.) The best CURRENT scheme is CNs, though I have trouble seeing the creamy white numbers on the rich orange (Red if you insist) cab side.
