BNSF Maersk Sealand FP45

Does anyone have any information on this locomotive? It’s an FP45 BNSF Maersk Sea land paint scheme, and this is the only picture I can find of it.

I assume it works in a big port near the intermodal facilities, like the one in LA. Or at least it originated there. If anyone has any other pictures or information, I’d appreciate it.

I was going to modify my Amtrak FP45 because; I don’t really have any use for an Amtrak train on my layout.

it was used in a promo film and was repainted.

It got sold to a rr muesum in Washington State or Organ I belive they painted over the Maersk Sealand words or the BNSF words but its in a safe palce.

Thanks guys for the info. Does anyone know the year(s) it was around, or what that promo film was called. Plus where I can get more pictures of it.

This was a SDF40-2

Back around 1990 ATSF had 2 other Maersk units, I think they were a GP60 and a FP45.

Santa Fe had one other Maersh painted unit, the #146 a GP60M. This unit was used for a photo shoot on Cajon Pass. It was in Maersk colors for three or four weeks and then painted in warbonnet. [:I]

Norfolk Southern painted up an SD40-2 in Maersk colors.

Note in photo that the short hood is chopped at the steps. This is because the crews complained about getting around the nose. Modification done at San Bernardino shops when units were rebuilt by Santa Fe in 1985.

This unit now rests in Portland Oregon, where the 4449 and SP&S 700 rest. It is safe!

If I remember correctly, this unit wasnt powered during the whole event.

Here are the pictures I took, down at the Los Angeles Junction Railway in Vernon, California, August 24, 2002. It was taken there on the BARLAC.
