Track code?

  • I was reading recently in the layout visits area; I noticed that it always mentions the code of the track. For example: N scale, code 55. What does this mean?

  • The "code" of the rail size is how tall the rail is in thousandths of an inch. for example, Code 55 rail is .055 inch high. Code 100 (common in HO scale) is .100 inch high.
