Hey all!
A quick heads up regarding this thread. I know it's been a little over a year and there is a lot of good discussions in here. It's great to see such an active discussion like this. These long discussion threads do impact forum performance over time and at some point we need for it to be continued in a new thread. Due to the size of this thread and the number of posts, I'm asking that you start a new one for 2007. With the new year approaching, it's as perfect time as ever to do this.
Thanks & Happy New Year!

I'll start it just before I go to bed on New Year's Eve, since I'm sure everyone else has something to do, like have a life.
Went fanning yesterday in the fresh snow...heavy snowfall warning, and we hardly get any. Pictures weren't that good either....I'm absolutely shocked that any got on railpictures at all, much less three! Think they're going soft?

Good looking shots. I don't know about you but I think they look great. The one I couldn't understand was a while back when you tried to post one of the train coming over the hill with the mountain in the back ground. I still don't know why they rejected that one. But keep up the good work.
Anyway nothing new with me. I have been enjoying this week off from school though.
Happy railroading
James

Or a person who couldn't switch his mother out of a glass factory with a 5 man crew and a radio?
Just kidding. I don't know where that saying comes from, but it's something a friend of mine on the railroad often says. Don't know why, but he does.....
My guess is that by archiving he means that it will be locked but still left up. That way people can read it but just can't post to it. I would assume that's the way things will work, but I don't know for sure.
I'll be sad to see all the old threads close down though. With all due respect to the moderators, I guess myself I can't see a reason in it; when a person loads a page of a thread it should load only that page, not the whole thread. If it loaded the whole thread then every time we click on a different page of the thread it should "snap in" not take a while to load like it does. If we just start a new thread and open the last page of that thread it will still be using the same amount of bandwidth, I don't see any difference. If you used the logic that when you open one page of a thread the whole thing opens, then that would be like opening one page of a website and the whole website being loaded. It just dosen't make any sense to me, or at least based upon my understanding of Bandwith from the looking I've done at website stuff. Personally I think this is more a conspiracy among the moderators to try and stop the large threads from continuing.... (Just kidding on that last sentence, BTW).
Happy 2007,
Noah
