TEEN RAILFAN PLACE-LET'S TALK TRAINS! Thread Locked

  • Matt - just tell me! I went digging through everything on the Model Railroader: General Discussion board and have found nothing. Except posts from you, which did not clarify one thing as to how to get them, and, no, I am NOT reading everything on that board!!!

If y'all haven't noticed, another thing about the new forums that I don't like, is when you click on a user's/member's profile, it pops up in a separate window. Staring to use the railfan.net tactic, eh? It is annoying, I want to keep one window open.

Noah - Cool page! I have a rrpicturearchives.net page too. http://unicapital.rrpicturearchives.net/ - if anyone wants to know what "unicapital" is, it is part of the "Unicapital Rail Group" or "URGX." I currently have 1,794 pictures, 1,200 something locomotives, less than 100 rolling stock and 61 locations on that website. Not bad, huh?

  • Rich, I little thinking ahead would get you the same result as Matt has too, kinda like I did. I just haven't bothered to use the starts yet though, I didn't feel like making a ruckus, I just left them on my hard drive instead. Besides, I like my photo of the WSOR 10C much better than those darn old starts anyway (although I do miss the fun they caused in the DOS thread. Hmm, I wonder if that ever made it though the changeover or not.....)

    Noah

  • It's quite obvious how Matt got his stars.
  • Would you guys just tell me? Just tell me for cripe sake!

  • Well I see that my picture is a little big for the site now... Oh well.

nothing new here just...work. I have been the busiest guy ever. Working 9 hours a day (a couple of the days being 12 hours) five days a week. It's work.

  • Let's not torment Richard now....
Saved them to my comp before the forum was revamped, then made a small file with five of them (with the right colour background) and uploaded them as my avatar. Since you couldn't solve the puzzle, it'll cost you to them stars. Tongue [:P] I know, I didn't tell anyone, but I was hoping that, since you could see that I posted the images, you could figure it out.
Went railfanning a bit today, no trains, but a rare occurance - Girls flirted with me. That in itself isn't THAT weird, but the fact they did it while I was railfanning - *speechless*
3 more days. Big Smile [:D]

  • Alec, to find your old post and replies, go to the top of the any page. There you will see a bunch of things you can do, and one of them says "My forums" click on that and you'll have a list of all the topics you've made and replied too.

BTW, I like your new signature Alec, very nice.

Well guys, I'm goint to be scooting out, I've got other stuff to do today, including hopefully doing a little more work on my module today. I've been neglecting it somewhat, so I really need to get going on it again.

    Noah

  • hey gents,

so I see the new forums met mixed reviews, I like it. I don't mind losing the stars becuase I think being able to put a little logo instead is a lot cooler. Besides, you need a change every now and then. What more, the homepage looks really sharp which conveys the idea that trains and model trains aren't outdated, which in turn is better for us.

BTW- Trainboy, clever idea taking a screen shot than cutting out the stars and loading them as your little photo, I got a laugh out of it.
  • Clever? Nah, I just like them too much...Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I'm sitting on a cornflake....waiting for the film to come....it's been over two weeks now, and they say it should be developed in two weeks max...It's been two weeks and a day...and I REALLY want to see the results of those three rolls of film! I took a lot of MRR pics on roll one, roll two was centered around Heritage Park, and roll three was Jasper. Roll one and two were pushed one stop, and I want to see how they turned out. Many were taken with a tripod and cable release, so I'll find out for sure if my lens is actually good...if you look quite a few pages back, you'll find a bunch of pictures of CP in winter, and they kinda suck because of blurring, and they were on a tripod then...I really want to know!
On the bright side, I may just be getting a 500mm lens tomorrow. Big Smile [:D]Evil [}:)]Clown [:o)]Wow!! [wow]Thumbs Up [tup]Laugh [(-D] I am mad....but it's only going to be $125 Canadian, which I CAN afford, and it doesn't look like it's lot quality! Of course, I have been fooled before... (I'm thinking by the aforementioned lens)

  • $125 Canadian, whats that like $175 American. Sounds like somebody is trying to scam you. I'm looking at a lower-middle of the road 300mm for $450 American. For a good 500mm I would expect to pay well over $1000, so just be careful...

I did a little resreach and the best I could find for a 500mm was the Telephoto AF-S Nikkor 500mm f/4D ED-IF II Autofocus for the grand total of $6,199.95 American. Admittly, this is top of the line lens but when you get to such a high focal lenght, you want a really good lens or its not gonna be very foucsed, let alone sharp...

    just my two cents...
  • Thanks for the compliments!

The CNW heritage unit looks the best IMO! Not too much new here. So i'll leave you all with a shot of the Dresser Turn (trap rock train) from yesterday. 6039 trailed.

GAHHH!!!!!! Why the hell will this forum not activate links!!!!!
