TEEN RAILFAN PLACE-LET'S TALK TRAINS! Thread Locked

  • I caught the IANR Oelwein sub yesterday. (on accident, too [swg])

here's the Fairbank ethanol plant. IANR runs a daily train to serve it.

  • Hey all-

I went railfanning at Berea today. NS was super busy, but CSX was slow. But also, CSX had some goodies even when they did come. The last CSX consist of the day, made my day!

Here is how it went: FURX 8091 (ex BN Cascade Green SD40-2) MRL 260 (SD40-2XR) and BNSF 7054 (Cascade Green SD40-2). That is obviously one heck of a awesome consist for Ohio.

    Oskar - here is some other stuff that I saw today. CSX 8805 (YN3 SD40-2 - loud) Conrail 8851 (SD40-2) and CSX 8575 (SD50). CSX 618 and 642 (AC6000CW's) on Q164. HLCX 6321 (ex MKCX SD40-2) and HLCX 6221 (ex QNS&L SD40-2).

    Cool NS stuff of the day: NS 2711 (SD70M-2) NS 4616 (GP59) Conrail 3024 (GP40-2) and BNSF 762 (Warbonnet C44-9W). Another consist: NS 9489 (Dash 9) and BNSF 648 (C44-9W - Warbonnet) on 10R.

Then two painted NS GEVO's rolled on through, numbers 7522 and 7513. 7513 was behind 2683 which appeared to be shined-up or somewhat fresh.

No CSX ES44DC's today, but I hope to get some next weekend if I head out to Berea, which seems to be a yes already!!!

Oh yeah, but I am kind of scared to go to Berea! The man who own's the company across from the street from the hotspot's, worker's daughter, who is nine, came over to watch trains with him while I was there.

Apparently, after that day, she could not stop talking about me and called me.......the cutest thing she has ever seen! I am REALLY scared to go back! I may go to Greenwich or Conneaut for a while!!!

  • Ah, she's back! Gonna take a bit to get used to the new look....is it just me, or is it a lot slower than it was before?
The novelty of being the smartest and youngest person in the class has worn off....now I do absolutely hate it....but on the plus side, 2816 next weekend!
And I swear I saw an Amtrak Cascades Talgo a few nights ago...

  • This place sure does look alot different. I somewhat miss the stars, but hey, what are you going to do? By the way, Matt, how did you keep yours? Is there a way?

I am excited about this weekend! I am finally going back to Greenwich, OH. That is where the crossroads of CSX's Indianapolis Line and Chicago Line are. About 120 trains per day.

So, what is new with all of you guys? Do you like the new look? I personally don't like it, but I can handle it. It isn't that bad. Oh, and is our avg/day thing still there, I haven't checked yet?

  • I personally like it, but some of the stuff seems so bland. Like our post boxes are just so plain, nothing really jumps out at you.

  • Exactly, plus this forum now looks more or less like any of the other ones out there you go to like www.railroadforum.com or www.railfan.net . It seems sort of like a phpbb forum hosting wesbite is running this forum now (I know they aren't).

To be honest, this forum has lost it's uniqueness. Compare www.railpictures.net 's forums to these. Not much different. The avatar thing and all, just appears the same.

    Just my two cents.

  • Hey guys, since your forum is for teens as well as "teens at heart",I hope you don't mind a 47 y.o. "recycled teenager"joins you do you??

FYI:Although I may be old enough to be your fathers, think of me as your really cool uncle instead!!*(*You know, the Uncle who let you watch all the 'R'rated movies on HBO when your parents let you come over.)

Anyway,it's good to know that some teenagers actually think model railroading is cool!!I mean,in this day of IPods;Video Games and the Internet;a lot of kids would think of it as something that was fun when you were children but not cool as teens!!

Anyway,if you want to know about certain railroad related subjects,I'm a sorta self taught expert.

    So let er' rip!!

  • You guys took the words out of my mouth from the little running around on the new forum before I popped in here. It runs slower, it's lost it's difference from every other forum, and it's really weird. It's going to take a while to get used to, but I'll get the hang of it eventually. Glad to see most of us made the jump over, although there are a few who I hope got left behind (don't worry, it's none of us in here)......

    Noah

  • Oh, don't worry, I think I know some people who you're thinking of.....something tells me they'll be sticking like glue....
Rich: It's a secret. Tongue [:P] I'm sure if you do a little research in the MR general discussion forum, you'll be able to figure it out...Wink [;)]
Eagle: I think it's safe to say you're most certainly welcome here! What subjects do you specialize in?

Sounds good to me!!! I like to model the Milwaukee road. You could probably guess from the look of my sig. ( HO scale... of courseShock [:O]..The "H"ow "O"utstanding scale) Hey.. If there is anything you want to talk about.. just lay it on me.

Man it feels good to be back after that little break of mine.

Just the other day I went out and bought a HUGE grain elevator for my layout. The thing stand 16 inches tall at it's highest and is 2.5 feet long!! This thing is a monster. Already nicely completely for 40 dollars. I also got a cement plant and a utility warehouse for 30 dollars already complete and nicely built. I had quite the buys. I will get some pics of them as soon as possible.

Me, I model the Chicago Great Western in 1968, in HO scale.

  • Another things I've noticed about this new version of the forum is that it limits the length of your signature. If you look at Alec's and James' signatures the photos are now cut down a little. It is kind of a nice feature though because it won't make the page so long, but it does limit what you can do with it.

Well guys, I've been busy the past few days setting up a website for myself on rrpicturearchives.net. I've only got a few of my photos from out east up so far, although I'll get more up as time goes on. You can check it out for now at http://wsor3807.rrpicturearchives.net More to come down the road.

  • Noah, cool site! Also, I agree with you on the signitures.
