TEEN RAILFAN PLACE-LET'S TALK TRAINS! Thread Locked

  • Zachar - That must have been the HLCX 6137 or something in the 6130-6140 HLCX number range. Those are all former SP tunnel motor units. SD40T-2's to be exact!

Well, I am going to be heading to Berea with my friend again on this upcoming weekend. Hopefully the stupid floods will be cleared up! And also, something rare better come through, because I got jipped last weekend!!!

Yeah, but regardless if its an SD40 or a dash 2, the image is still a little crushed, for example here is a scale drawing of a SD40

    http://paintshop.railfan.net/images/eby/sd40-cn.html

Still, that doesn't taken away for the great detail of the drawing, I could still ID the engine fine
  • Ya, i knew i was screwed from when i started drawing the frame. I only finished it because i had nothing better to do. I really noticed it when I put in the hood doors.

  • Don't feel bad, eh? The colours are good, and the details are great! Not to mention you can just stretch it out in photobucket...
First week of summer school is over, yay! It's been quite a week.....I'm the youngest one in the class by two years, and the only minor. I'm the only one still in school....and funnily enough, I consistantly get asked for help by people as much as eleven years older than me! I think that's just sad....if you can't even get the general idea of a story, then why should I help you with the questions?

    CSX 8856,5932,7377, and 7389 NS 3042,8360,8451

  • Summer school isn't that bad - Not too much work, it's humourous, and I get home by the time I would have gotten up anyways. I get to spend those extra hours practicing my already-honed writing skills and laughing at everyone else in the class who, despite the number more rights they have than me, are still total idiots....
And a swear I saw an Amtrak Cascades Talgo set yesterday... [%-)]

  • Hey guys! Back from a vacation out east. It went pretty well, I got in a little railfanning and went to the National Model Railroad Show along with a few railroad museums in the area (including the B&O in Baltimore and Strasburg in Lancaster PA). More on all that after I make a few replies here.

    James posted this:

Here is the webcite. I would give it a look. I am going to order one of the Duplex sleepers and a coach in the milwaukee road scheme. The paint is also very well done.

    Enjoy!!

I saw these cars first hand in Philly at the Convention this weekend, and you are right, they are awesome. A little out of my price range for the time being, but still awesome.

Richard, Oskar, et all, you guys should find this interesting, and maybe you can give me a little info on what I saw. I got to do a little railfanning on my vacation, both on the NS and CSX. I saw an NS Unit down in Manassas Virgina, a SD70M-2, leading a Conrail (patched NS), SD60M. No pictures up on the net yet of that one though, but I’ll have them soon.

In Maryland, I caught a CSX Gevo leading a CSX Freight one morning in what I think is the Dark Future Scheme (I may be wrong, I don’t know CSX that well):

Is this anything special, or is a sighting of a CSX Gevo a normal thing now? I know CSX is working on receiving an order of GEVOs, but I wasn’t sure how rare they really were or anything. I saw another train going the opposite way with two of these units on it as well, although I don’t have photos up of that one yet.

I’ll get the rest of my photos up on the internet at some point in the next few days, probably while the forums are off line. Most of them aren’t as good as the one posted so far, but there are a few that are decent anyway.

  • EDIT- Q126 Saturday had 2 Tropicana box cars and 3 UP Refeers that was way above normal for here.

Nora- GEVO's have the Dark Future Scheme aka YN3 and C&O paint. GEVO's are nothing special just a GE unit hanging out on the rails except last year when they had Primer GEVO's but now painted in YN3 they are normal to see on CSX rails now.
