TEEN RAILFAN PLACE-LET'S TALK TRAINS! Thread Locked

  • Mine has no progress, and I am clearly more fond of railfanning it than building it, and my dad doesn't seem too interested in it right now either. But since it's summer, I'm hoping we'll get to work on Virginia (Masonite) City (3 old buildings on masonite). Right now I'm in the middle of taking a picture....a 45 minute exposure. [}:)] f22, blue filter, only a bit of cloudy light coming in through the window, and the headlights being burned onto the film GOOD!

  • The DRGW Heritage Unit is out and about right now! Here she blows:

-I personally like this machine! It is cool looking! Check out this website for more pics: http://www.drgw.ws/gallery/gallery.asp?on=20060617

Bergie - I don't have anything against UP at all. I am concerned about CSX and only CSX because it is my favorite railroad and NS to a certain extention. As long as it is "in" CNW colors, I dont care if it is patched or not (no offense to anyone else here)

Anyway the Grandma's Marathon is in town tomorrow in Duluth. Every dang road in Duluth will be closed because of this race and I am suppose to be down to work at 8:30 am. And the race isn't even over untill 9 or 9:30. This is going to be nuts. Anyway the Marathon train leaves at 5:30 am and the crew members need to have the train ready by 4:00 am. I am glad I'm not with the train!!!! Thats is going to be nuts. 17,000 runners!!!!!!!!

    James

    Ummm....NO.

Only a few roads are being closed. And there is NO WHERE close to 17,000 runners.
    9700 runners.

I was up at 0145 and at the NSSR at 0230 to get the train ready and then fireman it.

I had the idea to put American Flags on our two units but I had to jerry rig a contraption for the firemans side flag.

    The consist went like this:

    SOO LINE GP30 #700
Duluth Missabe and Iron Range W-24 Combo Car *First Class*
Great Northern Diner "Lake of the Isles" *First Class* **Steamliner**
    Great Northern Power/Concession Car #1000
Great Northern Passenger Car "Liz Prebich" #1115 *Streamliner*
Great Northern assenger Car #1116 *Streamliner*
Metra Bi-Level (The # escapes me)
Spokane Portland & Seattle Baggage Car #66 *Heavyweight*
    Great Northern NW5 #192

    It was a GREAT train!
    2 engineers (Oviatt, Rengo)
    2 Fireman (Myself, Mackey)
4 Conductors (Kemp, Orv, Mickelson, and the last name escapes me)

  • Rich, thanks for posting it, I hadn't seen that yet.

Really I like that scheme for once. This is I think the first Heritage unit I can truely say I like. Yessir, it is pretty snappy. I might consider even buying a model of this one, it's pretty sharp. Of course the price of the model would have to be reasonable, but.......

  • I've been working on my benchwork today. My goal is to have the whole thing up with the mainline running by July 1. Hey- it could happen.

I'm gonna share some pics of my Stewart F3

  • Nice pics!! to every one.

Rich - I up here in Maine so I'm not all too familiar with CSX, but up here we are getting freight cars with the logos of Santa Fe, CSX, Union Pacific, Southern Pacific, B&O, and all kinds of other road names. It's like heck up here we want to see B&M, MC, BAR, and railroads that have tracks in the state not box cars fron the other side of the country.

No offence to any who is a fan of any of the railroads mentioned.

  • Hey Guys!

I do agree, the heritage unit looks great! I think it looks the best at the moment.

Not too much today, will chase the transfer, albeit boring power. Now this was yesterdays consist, nothing boring about it. Love to see 2 WC's on a train again.

    Sunday
a not so lucky day 6 trains basically every day stuff mostly SD power and 1 GP38-2 and 2 P42's(currently on trains fourm asking about PO1's engines not sure if they were P42's), I am also not sure of this, going towards my grandpartents house there's a double stack train and there's a darkish blue engine leading it. I belive it was a CSX SD70ACe with a HLCX SD40-2 and a UP SD70M not sure of it the ground isn't that flat around here. What a nice goodbye Arizona and UP.

[:D] Good for you. My husband went to the Modoc Railroad Academy, He works for BNSF now, and he loves it. The school was wonderful for him. I hope that you do attend. If any wifes have questions and want REAL answers just ask. Just a clue of how hard the school works for you. My husband was offered his job before he even graduated, contigent on successful grad from the school.
  • well no I do not but I don't live on a busy mainline. There's 5 major trains a day here in Augusta 155,156,157,191,192. In April there's 6! WOW WHERE'S THE TRAINS! and if your lucky might see some LOCALS! GN48,68(that I know of) and that one that goes across the river pics up or drops off flatcars then comes back. THATS 7 WOW! and some stay on the SC side. CSX has around 10-20. The 6 in April is the Masters train. Like the Kentucky Derby train well we got the golf train.

Well I got a flight around 3:30 EST and arrive in Atlanta in about 7:15 EST then get in Augusta around 8:40 EST hopefully there's still some light to see the town from up high in the sky. I saw NS and CSX's yard last time.
