TEEN RAILFAN PLACE-LET'S TALK TRAINS! Thread Locked

  • Rick- Your freind seen some good stuff. I would say its Mexican,US, or Canadan and its most likely to get droped off somewhere along the line. Also that MPEX is that MPEX 5000 a SD50-3? Seen that in 2004 in Folkston I would like to see that 1 more time for good pics instead of a crappy one. GRMS-2 seem that in YN2 paint nad YN3 I belive 2 years ago. GRMS-1 has a spirt not sure what it is but the city is a northern state city.

Yeah your right 103 to 105 seemed a short time mostly due to fighting and IMing like we did on the other fourm.

I would also like to say this ''fight'' between Alexander and Matt has gone a little too far for a stupid reason. Yes I may have brought this up back on Tuesday but I didn't bring the gasoline to the fire. Alexander went a little bit too far and saying what he said. Everybody has their own saying in this and I respect that, but I would like to see this stop and forget this ever happen and just leave this in the dirt or past.

  • I'll definitely leave it in the dirt if alexander stops saying that.
alexander - You know why I changed you title to that? You should. And guess what Eric thinks of what he knows? I hear he's not pleased with you.
Anyways, I probably won't be on again until friday night because I've got an exam tomorrow and friday, and really need to study.

So? I dont give a*** of what he thinks. I have richards forum, which is moderated by someone who only cares about what goes on in his forum
Besides, i can become good in his eyes again

Alex- i know they CAN paint over it. It's the fact that WHY should they?

    Dont talk to me.

  • Oskar - I like the GRMS test cars better in the YN3 paint. To me, it looks like, well, I don't know, but it looks just better. LOL

Have you ever seen the 8886? I've seen the 8887 and the 8884, not seen the 8885 nor the 8886. But it is the 8886 that I care about. Have you seen it? It is a former SD45-2.

And for the MPEX unit. RRpicturearchives says that it is currently a MK-50-3. I thought the dang thing was a MK5000C. What is goin' on with that unit?

Alex - Just drop the thing with Matt as much you can and learn to forget and forgive. The same with you Matt.

But Alex, do not say "they're JUST TRAINS." That will majorly **** some people off. I for one, think trains are unique because no two are alike. You'll probably never see railcars in the exact same order again.

Also, the railroads can also be unique with special locos. Look at CSX's Spirit Units, look at UP's Heritage Units, Look at NS "25 Years of Safety and Service" locos.

They are not at all, all the same. And I'm not trying to be mean, but just don't ever say that 'on here' at least again.

And why don't you two (Matt and Alex) try to stay apart for a little while. I think that will help to resolve this situation.

And yes, I do take pride in my forums and what they've achieved so far. I think that we're doing excellent!

  • Well yesterday we were doing a few things in Superior and I caught the Famous three working 28th street. (there SD40-2s) They do put out quite the show. I also saw that the SD9 had been used lately since it had moved up 4 or 5 tracks. I didn't see the other 3 SD9s though. Those two coal trains finally moved. Those things sat there all day the day we railfanned.

Alexander, No, DON'T keep your discussion here if all you're going to do is fight. If you want to talk about things like trains without arguing, then you’re fine, you're welcome to keep posting. But if you are just going to argue, take it somewhere else. I think I speak for more than just myself when I say I’m tired of having fights always end up here. This thread is not a boxing ring for you to carry out your fights in; it's a place where those of us who are teens on the forum can talk, SENSIBLY. The thing is, even though we are teens, most of us have attitudes that are a little more mature, and we can kid and joke with each other, act like we’re mad but still have fun at it and be friends again after only one or two posts arguing with each other. Right now though you're acting like somebody who’s about 10 years old, dragging this argument out over pages when it really hasn’t changed since the first time you stated your opinion. You’ve acted better before, so I know you’re capable, but right now you seem to have forgotten how to be mature. I guess that probably goes for a few other people too.

Sure, I know all of us can lose our cool sometime. I do it quite a bit. But you don’t see me posting angry or slanderous comments on here, do you? That’s because if I’m mad at someone, I log off, I don’t go and post about it. I just move on to something else. If I had posted every time I got mad or annoyed with someone on this forum, I wouldn’t probably be around here, I would have been kicked off long ago. I also learn to keep my cool when I do post, and not get angry.

I don’t think any of us here want to see this place closed down again, but it was actions EXACTLY like what a few of you are doing that closed down the old place. I should remind everyone of what Matt posted on the very first post in this thread:

I think he was right, but lately we really haven’t been following these rules we all kind of agreed too in the beginning.

More than one person has asked Alexander and Matt to stop fighting, and now others are getting drawn into the argument. This is an argument of opinion, so it will never be solved, because rarely can you change someone’s opinions. Everyone has a right to their own opinion, and there is nothing anyone else can do about that. You just have to learn to respect other people’s opinions, even if you don’t agree with them. If one person states their opinion you have the right to state yours, but you don’t have to argue about it. Just move on.

Seriously, I’m asking everyone to stop fighting in this thread. I don’t really care who provoked who and all that stuff, I just want us all to stop fighting and go back to being friends, or at least back to not being enemies. I really don’t mean to offend anyone by this little monologue, I just don’ like to see us all fighting in this thread. Now, can we get this discussion back to how it was about five pages ago, about trains?

Now, I have to get back to scratchbuilding a yard office for my module. I’m getting really close to done too, so I want to keep going on it and get the building finished.

P.S. ‘scuse the long post, I guess I got a little carried away.

  • Rick- I don't think I have seen 8886,8885,or 8884 may have but I don't think I have. Another one you want to look for CSX 8888 the infamous runaway in Toledo,OH my freind says there is a curse on it but I don't think so. I have seen it once and got a nice pic of the nose and cab. Once I get back to GA I will show you the pic.

The MPEX unit is a SD50-3 there is only one of them and it is MPEX 5000.

Every RR has something like that CSX Spirts,CN or CP stuff,UP Heritage along with its 'United Way' US loco # 3300, BNSF?,NS 25 year thing, NS GP60 and GP59 Operation Lifesavers, and others.

1 more thing Rick I will try to get a freind to join and I need you to have New Hope Valley RailRoad forum thing since he works there but, don't do anything yet I will let you know if he dose join. The NHV is a shortline near Raleigh,NC. He should join in as Railfan90.

  • Moving on -
A fresh set of pics from my MRR.
A pic that I have been unsuccessfully trying to get for MONTHS (Kept blurring it because the tripod was a bit wobbly, it's a big tele, and I was holding down the shutter)

4 first generation hood units on a coal train at what may soon be named Matt's curve. [:p]

My IHC CN 2-6-0 at the start of Matt's curve

Two of my P2K FA-1s on the curve

    (To enlarge, go to http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/trainboysd40/0031.jpg)
Just upgrade from the curve: Taken 20 seconds with the light on, and two minutes with it off for the headlights.

And my vain attempt at a night shot...turns out the proper exposure is probably 20 minutes...

Dingoix- yes I do understand it was the last standard cab C41-8 or C40-8(I saw C40-8 under 8575's number in December 04) but still some people are taking it over the line. Like Lord Atmo look what he put under his post Ugly Pacific? with a 'suspension' logo over the UP and says ''Patching America'' that to me is way over the line for a little thing and so is many other people. I don't see people complaining about UP having no MKT's left or MP. Or NS having no Conrail marker lights on their engines some what everybody has to get onto the UP and what they're doing. I do like seeing Chicago & North Western engines but not a big fan like I am with CSX,NS, and FEC their just a RR company for something like that to happen and make a big deal about it is very imature. If it was like 9-11 I would understand that was a real big impact on our Country and hopefully never happens again. This is just my 2 cents once again.

    kevin

over the line? and what railroad did you grow up watching?

let me be clear on this. the Chicago & North Western Railway once ran on these rails in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. a lot. every day i would see trains. in fact, it was CNW that got me hooked. the first railroad i ever saw. the ball and bar became so iconic to me as did the green cabs on the yellow bodies of those great locomotives. i was obsesed with trains after seeing that. i thrilled watching them pass the crossing and grew very fond of the CNW. to me, CNW defines "train". i later learned about and saw the Union Pacific. i liked their color too. i liked both roads equally and enjoyed watching them both. then i learned of the merger. again, it didnt bother me as i still saw plenty of both roads. then my family moved. i now lived far from the railroad and was unable to watch trains so much. many years passed and i was left in the dark for so long. in fact, it was exactly one year ago when i was refreshed on the happenings. i come back into the full swing of railfanning to find that my precious CNW is down to THREE LOCOMOTIVES?!?!? all GE and only one spartan cab. now i hear SP was bought out too by UP and then 8575 is patched. it tore me apart. i used to like UP, but they have become so horrendous. they buy out EVERYONE. they're a mnster who's always hungry and feeds off of smaller railroads. they have ruined so much railroad history, and i can never forgive them for that crime. yes, i said crime. what they're doing is wrong. if they didnt buy out these other roads, they'd still be around. i feel confident of that. armour yellow locomotives look nice as part of a big mass of other different colored units, but not EVERY LAST LOCOMOTIVE! i will forever hate UP for their desecration of railroad history and their bland colors and i wear this image on my signature with pride.

i hope that clears things up

lastly, if anyone so wishes to refute anything i may have said that you disagree with in this post or what not, do it via AIM...please. my s/n is in my profile. just dont spam up this topic

    Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.

  • What I mean by the over the line is the 'suspension' logo and ''Ugly Pacific'' is over the line for a stupid subject, 8575 got patched now I hate UP come on, Its the RR life dude **** happens patching, selling, and buying happens also.
I grew up on CSX's McCormic Sub for most of my life after moving to Raeford,NC where my dad was stationed in Ft.Bragg. I saw trains on the Aberdeen & Rockfish line throught there now there isn't much trains. I heard A&R is letting the tracks rust. I also saw trains in Hamlet,NC with CSX's Hamlet Yard and its 4 tracks south of it with trains running all day. Now I stay watching trains most of the time on the McCormic Sub and NS's Columbia-Millen Line.

On another note I do kinda feel your pain with my 4th home RR (the A&R) with it rusting the Raeford Line though its been 9 years since being in that city still sad about that but its still not right to have the suspension logo and ''Ugly Pacific'' on your post. I am going to move on from this due to the rules of no flaming that Nora just reminded me of, this is not a flaming post but a response post and now going to move on. It is your opinon of what goes on and I respect that. I would also like to say sorry to all of the group for what I may have started. Once again I am sorry for this inconvience and what has happened to this fourm. Also for this long post.

Rick- I also forgot to say that I saw UP 4629 and BNSF 4629 on the same day but on different trains.

Well if I don't post again I will talk to yall Sunday with me being in Phoenix Friday,Saturday and coming back Sunday. Will have a UP Sunset Route Trip report Sunday.

  • Matt. DO NOT RESPOND TO MY POSTS!
If you respond then i will not be responsible for what i say.
I did not mean to cause a flame war. Those peoples who are saying it is my fault, well no it isnt. MATT CALLED ME A "Whiny little beggar BAVY".
I have wanted his blood ever since.

    Thank you
    Alexander
  • UP patched 8575 and killed off the last CNW spartan cab. that is a horrendou and just plain evil thing to do. my sig, i feel, does not insult them enough for that
