TEEN RAILFAN PLACE-LET'S TALK TRAINS! Thread Locked

  • Richard, i thought you said you got a better camera? Didnt you say 8 MP or something? Well, if i were you, i'd take that back, as those new GEVO shots look rather lousy for a 8 MP camera. Not saying you suck at photography, but the camera doesnt make that a "winner" shot. I mean, my 5 MP takes better shots than that. Wouldnt want to see a blurred shot like that with a rare engine, im sure you wouldnt want to either.

P.S. Look at these shots for comparison.

  • QUOTE: So now that we are all getting out of school, what do you guys have for railfan/model railroading plans for the summer?
Adding to my layout. I ordered track to lay the (new) main today. Now I need to start on benchwork.
  • Alec - actually my 8 MP camera's monitor stopped working when we tried to work with the LCD or whatever so we took it back and I got a 5 MP Kodak Z730, which is what took the photo here.

The reason it is kind of blurry is the cropping! I still pu***he button to early and need to crop. Some habbit I'll just have to break I guess.

  • Rick- Nice catch I saw CSX 5371 and 5376 on probaly its 2nd run those things you can see yourself on it heck I saw the Folkston Platform which is 50 yards from the tracks.

Well guys I got an early flight from Augusta to Atlanta then an hour wait in Hartford-Jackson Airport in ATL then about a 3hr flight to Tucson right after that I heard we are going to Phoenix to my aunts house for a day. Here's the good part UP runs right next to I-10 so I'll see trains on Saturday,Sunday, next Sat and Sun before I come back to the Peach State. Luckly my grandparents (in AZ) has a computer so I'll check back on Sunday afternoon.

Rick- do not e-mail me for the next 9 days

  • I have now, and I can safely say to avoid it....In fact, I highly reccomend against letting those letters into your address bar.
Two more days goober, two more days...but a rainy weekend before that, at least I'll be able to scan a bunch of slides, and some MRR pics should be coming in in about a week. Sunday Brendan may be helping me to scan some slides, so some mediocre pics there will become availible to the public, and I don't think any really good ones.

Didnt catch the number on the first one. But at least chances are that I'm going back to Berea tomorrow!

    Otherwise, nothing else is new...

  • In case nobody knew. The new UP "DRGW Heritage Unit" is up at Butler, WI in the UP diesel shop and is under tarps. It is ready to head to Denver to get unveiled. Here is a link to the photo:

I myself found this photo on rp.net (it wasnt very hard considering it was on the opening page) and was not expecting a dang UP "DRGW Heritage Unit." Not at all! This photo took me by surprise, and I hate surprises! <<I always wanted to say that!

    Rich

    ...............

EDIT: The number on the DRGW Heritage Unit is obviously 1989, obviously one above the Katy Unit's number.

What do you mean by never. It always comes up to Duluth. So it made one run on the DMIR so what. I thought every time it went up the North Shore that it went on to the DMIR.

It left today at about noon, and was most recently reported as having left Council Bluffs.
