TEEN RAILFAN PLACE-LET'S TALK TRAINS! Thread Locked

  • I'm still here, I've just been having a really boring week and a half. My parents are in Greece for their 25th anniversary (A year late, but whatever) and my grandmother is here to 'look after me'. 10:00 bedtimes for all! 'Course, I don't obey them...needless to say, I do practically nothing. And the fact that it's been raining for a week doesn't help. I've seen one train since they left....2 AC4400s on an intermodal...I have been looking in every day or two, and have actually been watching the MRL/IMRL discussion with interest, just don't have anything to add. But if you don't feel included, it's not hard to start a discussion with somebody in here, it's not like there can only be one discussion in a thread. It's kind of silly to stop a discussion just to include everybody, if you look around you'll see that there are lots of different groups of people talking about different things.
Now, I've got a few photos around...
Recent: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/trainboysd40/EBgrain85thstbridge.jpg Working on the colour... rejected from rp.net for that reason.
Some random photos from around my house: I like night shots!

Saw the Royal Canadian Pacific on it's way back from Nelson two weeks ago:

unfortunately, my pictures are currently in Greece with my parents...
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/trainboysd40/img043.jpg that's me waving the tripod
Two weeks ago again, was at the driving range and brought my camera just in case. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/trainboysd40/6e46b1aa.jpg Rejected for bad angle, of course.
Banff last March http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/trainboysd40/BanffstationrailseditedBW.jpg rejected from rp.net for it being the wrong dimensions. And then I cropped it, and of course rejected "Because it has low esthetic quality (Yes, they spelled it wrong!) which means because it doesn't have a train)
Going even further back, February. it was -40c. I was railfanning with a friend, and we had fun. Hid from a hirailer, just in case. Good day. Going to rescan this pic because I moved the scanner in the middle.. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/trainboysd40/0e8a11cf.jpg
I think this is from January, though I'm not sure.. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/trainboysd40/CP8518EBKeithbacklit.jpg
And a really funky consist from 2003: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/trainboysd40/CP5900withSW1200RSuatlakeohararoad.jpg
That's all I'll have to say unless I actually get to bike down to the river/rail line tonight, it's sunny now. For the first time in a week. Hah! But unless i see something good, I'll remain quiet.....for now.

  • Alexander, So what if a few of them want to talk about a subject that doesn't necessarily involve the whole group. If we "had" to involve the whole group in overy conversation, there wouldn't be much interesting going on at all, as there wouldn't be much we could talk about. Besides, I'm kind of enjoying the little conversation going on here, even if it doesn't directly involve me. I still read it, and occasionally post if I have something to add. And there has been times you've posted stuff that I don't care about, but it's not like I've gotten all annoyed over it and posted about it, I just read it and moved on. There are times I've gone a few weeks without posting, but then I may chat quite a bit if there is something that interests me. If it doesn't interest you, just don't read it or don't bother coming in here, it's not like anyone is forcing you to do either/or.

And like Matt said, it's not like their can't be more than one conversation going on at once. If that was the way it was then there would be barely anything posted here. You can always strike up a conversation with another member. And if Max and Alec didn't have the occasional argument on here, then their would be nothing posted at all! LOL!

This place really is kind of dying out. It's nothing like the first 30 or so pages of the first thread, where we would exchange ideas, photos, and other stuff. There is still a little bit of that, but not like it used to be. It's come down to nothing but talk and the very occasional "meat" to the topic, if you will, instead of the other way around.

But, I still stop in occasionally, and probably will until the thing dies off completely. But anyway, that's just my two and a half cents.

  • Well, i guess we shall start posting trip reports, and talking about what a cool lashup we had today or something. I do like this place, i mean, its nothing , i mean NOTHING like it used to be, but its still a good place to talk to the few people that are here now.

  • Yeah i havent been keeping the discussion going much
I have been reading it though.

I have started an expirement with building a garden railroad with HO scale trains, i wonder how it will turn out?
Soon i will have some photos developed from easter, i;ve been really slack with that
Not much else going on here in oz
  • Easter...sounds about like my usual developing schedule...
I did get down to the island today, with no camera in hand of course, saw 2 trains: EB grain empties and WB Potash loads. 4 AC4400s all together. *Yawn*
On the other hand, this is the first time I've gotten a good exploring of my island's pathways since the flood last june (1 in 200 year flood!!)(!!!!)(Water levels were a metre and a half above normal!) And I discovered that one ford had gotten slightly deeper and wider, and that on the west tip of the island, the path had been washed away and large trees washed onto it. Of course, we're not talking real paths, we're talking dirt paths that people make by walking in the same place 10 times..
The island of which I speak has a paved pathway through the middle and the CP line close to that. It's got a bunch of small trails on it, and it's really fun to bike on, save for the marsh and the mosquitos on the NE side. I'm sure I'll get some pics someday..
