ModelTrainLover, you don't need to put URL at the front and ending of the address, just [ img ] and [ / img ].

I like the Maine Central too.

  • A diesel locomotive is a thing that runs on its own power, and has quite a bit of horsepower. James, aka CMSTPP, is much more knowledgeble about the engine (motor) itself, but if you want to know what a specific engine is, just ask me (not saying james doesnt know)

But i'll help more if you tell me what you want to do the project one. You cant just say diesel locomotives, that doesnt help me in terms of helping you.

  • Oskar - I believe you are right, that is what my Kerr Roster says - but why should I believe it?

Here are some of my Kerr Roster 2006 errors:

    NS 9800-9999 ES40DC
    NS 8650-8888 C40-8
NS 2650-2700 SD70M-2 (where are the others?)

---And that is only a couple.....

As you probably know, the 8889 was a exx-EL, ex-Conrail sold to CSX. The same with 8974 and the others besides 8954.

Note - 8974 is in the Dark Future (YN3) paint scheme. It is very odd CSX did this. The same goes for 7846 and 9051. Guess they were just in need of paint that's all, LOL, they need to take a look at 7719:

Anyways, Oskar, have you ever seen a GCFX like I mentioned in one of my before posts? The primer/gray ghost with blue stripes on the side.

    Thanks,

See you - man I need better endings!!!!!

  • Richard, if you don't mind me asking, what is a Kerr Roster? Where are they available?
    Colin from prr.railfan.net
  • Rick- thats alot of mistakes that shouldn't be made on a locomotive roster thingy. 8974 was in CRQ paint before YN3. 8954 was in Seaboard System. I guess it was a experiment scheme on those and see what they look like I saw one of the YN3 C40-8's and it looks pretty good (I do not know if it was 7846 can't find it on pad).

Jeez that one looks really bad but some or worse CSX 478 was toasted and needs a paint job, I've seen some that has graffiti and needs paint job. heck CSX 4709 is running around with out CSX on its nose its just gold there's alot of them that needs a paint job but it makes a great thing to say later when it did get a paint job.

yes I have seen those GCFX engines not much here but when I ever I got to Folkston I see them often.

here's the dumbed down explanation of what a loco basically is

a locomotive is the thing that makes the train move. if you watch a train, it's the thing in the front with the headlight and the windows and makes the hum noise. it's also where that eardrum-rupturing horn comes from and where the train is controlled. locomotives are also called "engines". not sure why, since the engine is the thing inside of it.

moving on, the SD45 is different from the SD70MAC because- you know what? dont worry about that yet. heh heh heh. trust me. that's very overwhelming information for a railroading newcomer. after you know how to tell what the locomotive is, dont worry about what all the different kinds are called, i'd focus on distinguishing rolling stock (the cars the locomotive pulls) first. much easier
