can anyone give me a type of train i can do an assignment on that isnt very difficult

If you want an interesting topic and allot of information on it, go with the Milwaukee road Hiawatha. There passenger trains were some of the most famous. You will not have any problem finding information. Infact If you needed information just ask. I'm the Milwaukee road guy here it seems. I know allot about the Hiawatha and the kind of trains they ran. So if your interested anything about it give me a ring.

Nothing new otherwise. Things are kind of slow and the worst is to come. My Mother and Father are leaving for Arizona tomorrow and there leaving me and my /brother behind for 9 days. I've been to Arizona and I would give allot to go back. The thing I want to see again is the Grand Canyon. Unfortunatley there going to go and see with my grandmother and without us.[V] I would like to see those Alco FA's again on the Grand Canyon railway. They are the most impressive sight when those things are notched out. They were sitting there the last time ready for a train and they do look sharp.

John - Nice! Those are the kind of shots I aspire to take...never had a chance to, though. Downtown is so far away from me and nights are getting shorter, so I'd have to be out really late to get a good shot, though I am starting to have some ideas. I think I'll do a bit of fanning on sunday if it's sunny, I've got some ideas and the choir doesn't have to sing.
I got a roll of film back today, and it made me happy. I found some awesome angles on my MRR, and I also found out that taping a blue filter to the telephoto lens gives satisfactory results!
Richard, I never asnwered your question, did I? I'd say shut it down, nobody's posting and at this rate, even if things do pick up, it won't ever be a really good forum, and will probably lose clientelle as time goes on...

I would appeal saying that the paint on the engines are warn off and that the entire entire shot is full of dull color objects. If that doesn't get it in (which I don't think it will becuase there are other problems with it) I think you should do this is a photo editing program

1. Sharpen it
2. Brighten it a little bit
3. Increase the cyan

The shot isn't very bright either, steps 2 and 3 should mask that problem. It also might need to be leveled a hair.

You could try the conversion from steam in the 1940s, there is all sorts of books and internet sights about that.

Another good idea would trains in the wars, or if thats too borad, try trains in WWII, or American trains in World War II

An assignment that would give you an A would be the why the train declined from the primary means of transportation in American.

Thats exactly what I was trying to say to him and I wasn't arguing, just telling him that I care about another railroad. What do you mean by "what happened to your Max feddish??"

I hand laid the track myself. It is not the easiest thing in the world. What you do is you eye the track down every time you put in a nail. Then you make sure the track is not swerving on you and then nail it again. You keep going untill you have what you want. There are a couple areas that are making me mad but they can easly be fixed. Otherwise I can have a train run down the track without any problem. I recommend that when you have your layout and it's going to stay there permanently you solder each joint so that you don't have the track come undone at any time. There is going to be some work done with it this summer and when I have everything in and running to the best of it's ability I will show some more pictures of the area. This time I will take the pictures so that the signs in the back ground don't light up like light bulbs. Hopefully some the track laying information helps you.

I just about crapped my pants when i saw what we had for power today. 2 SD45's, both in WC, both of Norfolk and Western heritage, and one currently stenciled MRL, run to Northtown today. The IMRL 1744 and the WC 7554. Heres a shot, ill shootin more once they return.

DUDE!!! That locomotive was up here in Duluth. The one stenciled for the MRL. It was coupled up to and SD40-3 and they were the switching power for the log yard. It was wierd to see the locomotive stenciled for the MRL. Max can give you more detail on it since he saw it also. pretty cool.

Alec, I thought the N&W only had Hi-Hood versions of their locos? Did the WC convert them to short nose?
