    Alec[:p]

ALEC The DMIR SD40-3 is accually a sd45T-2 that was rebuilt by eather DMIR shop forces or Mk. I belive they have upgraded electronics.......but what do I know........max is more with the program than I am with the DMIR..........

MAX saw a SD40-3 and two SDm's going up proctor hill to day what a wonderfull sound!!
o ya and the SDm's were in the lead!!!!!!!!

(A sdM for those who dont know about DMIR locomotive classification is a SD9 or SD18 with the following: chopped nose, upgraded electrical system, new ARR type controll strand (replacing the original, and a new more powerful prime mover.) So in essance the SDm is some what like a SD38 in a SD18 or SD9 schell.

    see yall

    kale

A little quick to prove me wrong eh Kale [:0]

Max said that a grey WC unit is a SD40-2. Which it is not, it is an SD40-3 rebuilt from a CN SD40. And I HOPE that most here knew what a SDm is. But anywho, back to homework. Seeya,

    Alec

Sorry I thought he was talking about the DMIR again.........Ya know he even has a name tag saying he is a "official fan" of the DMIR..........[:o)]BY the way who did the rebuilding of CN's SD40-3's was it MK??

  • Alec - I LOVE your sig pic! I'm thinking it's time for a sketch! It's itneresting that it's got the handle and another lock, especially considering that you could potentially lock someone in there!
I was hoping to go railfanning today, but it's cloudy. I don't go railfaniing near my house when it's cloudy..because I've got enough cloudy day shots around here anyways.

  • Thanks Matt.

Well, fanning was slow, but what we did see was worth it.
Caught my first Wedgie, 7744. Crappy shot as the nose wasnt lit up!
4 ex BN whiteface geeps had a frieght in tow.
    Saw a warbonnet also.
It was a quiet day though.

  • I had a pretty good day all together. I caught twelve trains on the CP altogether from about 7:00AM to 1:00PM. CEFX, CP, and SOO power, and even a BNSF coal train too. Pretty good over all. There wasn't a cloud in the sky either, so that sure helped things.

Alec, I caught my first Swoosh about two weeks ago, and I ended up with the same kind of thing you did, the nose was dark. Now my new goal is to catch a Swoosh again, only leading the right direction for the sun.

  • well got back from Atlanta last night after railfanning in Greenwood,SC,Atlanta, and Austell. Saw some H3's on some NS coal trains but the highlight of the weekend was NS train 97G with 2 NS SD40-2's both going LHF!!! on a work train!!. I have found a new think in railfanning tape recorders!! I recorded the engine numbers and cars along with the horn of the locomotive. Off to Greenville for our first playoff game since 2001.
