TEEN RAILFAN PLACE-LET'S TALK TRAINS! Thread Locked

  • Hey guys,

Things went well again today. I've got very little homework tonight, so I'm going back to working on the module some more. I got a little more done over the course of two hours last night, and I'm hopeing to make at least the same amount of progress tonight. Things are really starting to shape up.

I'll see you guys around, or maybe later, I gotta get going,
    Noah
  • Well, I got dumped with 6 inches of snow late yesterday and all of today. Where has that snow day been that my school has been waiting for all winter? But hey, at least my mom will take me to railfan unless it's practically a blizzard or the roads are slick with ice.

Alec, I like WC's OLS loco. It's interestin looking. I looked at all the photos of it on your rrpictures homepage.

Oskar, I'm waiting for CSX ES44DCs now. To be honest, I don't really care about the "Spirit of Bush" that much because:

One. It only says it on the fireman's side.
Two. It's an SD40-2. Spirit markings only look best on GE Widecabs. At least in my opinion.

Welcome demigod, but Conrail has been a part of CSX since June 1, 1999, as Oskar said, and Conrail doesn't exist anymore, unless you count their unpatched locos [;)].

Conrail still its own railroad in Detroit, Philly and New Jersey. It does small switching and transfers between CSX and NS. However, its now called Conrail Shared Assest. I would say that that guy doesn't know alot about trains in the first place seeing how: 1) he called a freight train a 'cargo train' (very european) and 2) he hasn't posted anything after the first day.

    What are you gonna do...
  • I am board...... No Homework today.
  • BORED?? I wish I had no HW!!!!
  • Rick-I am waiting for the NS SD70M-2's now or any of the new NS ES44DC's that the ordered sometime ago. They are 7516-7564 on roster and waiting for NS to order their last 24 ''cat fish'' C40-9W.

Jdirelan- you got a point there but the orginal thing is gone or mostly gone.Unpatched I am not sure how many but according to some freinds that the CR standard cab SD70M is not unpatched its NS.One said they will stay unpainted but 2578 isn't.

  • Hey guys! I am stuck here at home, and I really wanted to go railfanning.
  • Howdy again just got some film back from last week and todays railfanning here are the pictures. These are on 400 ISO film.
With my 28mm lens set with the f stop to 16, a shutter speed of 1\30, and the camera on a tripod.

Then auto settings on, this one; a good model project, eh?

Then on top of my luck in it being sunny I saw a wrecking crane go by on the head end of a freight train, but only after I changed film, so no pics.

  • whats up guys?.. im just poppin in to say hey!! Not much going on here... i did however complete my first operations run on my friends club lay out... I only had one derailment lol!!!
    Well C-u guys later
  • CHASE!!!!!!!!! Glad you came back!!! We missed you! I am glad you enjoyed your op seesion..I enjoy the ones I attend.....what scale were you operating>?

James--great photos!!! I love the blur shot of the SD70... and that hopper would be a fun project!

    Well, nothing new...I have homework....

    LATER [:)]
  • James, Sweet photos. I kinda like the blurred effect, it looks cool.

School was aboutt he usual today, boring and dull with lot o' homework. We had to start picking new classes for next year today, and I'm still trying to figure out what to do for classes.

I've got a little more Homework than usual tonight too. I have to Study for a Spanish Quiz and an English quiz, and I've got a little Geometry homework to do. And I want to work more on the module. I got about 75% of the module covered with some sort of ground covering, and I want to make a little more headway, that is assuming that my time allows tonight! I better get off the net then if I really want to make any headway.

    I'll see you all later,
    Noah
  • Thank you, I am glad you like 'em; first time I ever tried that effect.

I had been reffering to the last picture, but that hopper has some interesting weathering too.
  • Wow, you guys sure talked a lot while I was gone. The exams were a little hard, especially the math I had today. Well, on the bright side, I did see this engine on my way to lunch today. This shortline runs behind my school, and I always listen for the horn. The engine is a C 30-7.

The engine had some covered hoppers in front of it. It was on a siding, right near a small factory where it delivers the cars. I wi***he cars had been uncoupled.

Thank you all for the prayers. I have not seen him lately, school has been so busy. Again, thanks.

The roster includes a 280 steamer, and a GP9, and a GP7. All of the diesels have the same paint. If I get out this weekend, I will see if I can get some more shots of the motive power. They have a bunch of freight cars, especially covered hoppers, and tank cars. They are in the process of restoring some streamlined passenger cars, and have a bunch of other locos not being used. I have seen them on the sidings near the main station where the passenger service is. I saw a UP loco they got (I do not know how they got it there, they have no connection to any mainline's I think[%-)]??????) an old Santa Fe GP38 in the blue and yellow, and a few others. If I can get out there, I will definitely snap some photos.
