TEEN RAILFAN PLACE-LET'S TALK TRAINS! Thread Locked

  • Loosen up? Maybe, but then dont come prancing in here and talking *** like you ARE god. If you wanna be here, i have no problem with it. Show some respect and not act higher, or you can see your way out of this thread. Simple? I find it to be, come back with a new attitude..........

  • You sure take the defensive quickly, but I assume thats your deal (which is cool I understand the trials and tribulations you guys must face being railfans in highschool, I was one to just one short year ago). You got to learn to take it is stride, which you will and in time your photography skills will improve, at first everybody loves the close up but you will see the errors in your ways. And I not god, I've been railfanning a little longer than you guys and got better a bit faster than you guys.
  • Alec, what's with you lately? You're jumping on people so quick! Guys, lay off him!
But jdurelan, I use a camera that's completely manual, focus, exposure, and shutter speed. I've taken some great pictures. The guys here that use point and shoot could pick it up quickly, it's not that hard.

Well said, and I agree with what you say, you should spread some of your goodwill to your buds. Are you the only that can take a little ruff housing?
However, you got to admitt, alot of people never really 'get' the 'art' of taking pictures of trains. Many (if you've been to railpictures.net) are happen taking 3/4 wedge shots w/ washed out skies for years never improving their craft. Thats something you all new to avoid. Most of you guys here are young, so its already for now that you fall in that catogory, but for how long....
  • I really hate wedge shots, every time I see one I take, I cringe. I urge all of us chillins and youngins to lean the art of photography while there is still time!
and guys, seriously, you really need to lighten up a little!
PennFan, what are ya talking aout? $20 is good money! I know a lot of friends who would kill to make that much!

  • ok ok , he seems cool enough. Whose photography skills are you talking about? I have 8 on railpics ( doesnt help that its been cloudy for most of the Xmas vacation, which is when i got a better camera ) and im always trying to gain more. I feel most of my shots are good, just need to be cropped a little.

  • See, thats the thing about rp.net, most of shot on that site aren't very good (of course some are great), they mostly just want shots where the train is centered 3/4 standard boring shots. The problem is alot of people have strated shooting to get onto rp.net and not to have good pics. I just started posting there last week and I think I already have 10 or 11 on, but the best quailty and intresting pics they rejected becuase the train wasn't dead center.
A perfect example, I know almost everybody here most know the famous rail photographer Jim Boyd. Well if you ever look at one of his books, alot of his shots would be rejected from RP.net!!!!
  • YES!!! Semester finals are over!!!

jdirelan- all I can say is TROLL [:(!] Dude, this place is abuot freindship, and a love for railroading, not coming in and acting like you are better than us. Show us some respect buddy, and maybe we (or at least I) will respect you.

And look at my photos before you go degrading them, eh?

  • I have "FINALLY" finished that drawing and will be posting tonight after I get out of school! I am so happy that i have Friday off because the teachers have meetings tomorrow. Haaaaaa!
Back to the conversation. Hey jdirelan welcome. We really need you to cooperate. If you want to talk about your age and other conversations that don't belong to this thread, please use e-mails. Please stick to being polite also, and... guys your coming at the wrong angle towards jdirelan. ( I'm not talking about all of you either.) You need to come out politely, something that your mother and father teach you. If you come out the wrong way of course your going to get into fights and, flaming will start happening and we don't "NEED" this, okay.
I may not be an expert but I can see where a couple of you need to improve on the politeness side. Work on it.

  • Jdirelan, perhaps that explains why I have so few shtos on railpictures! Or maybe it's because of little errors..(Blurred telephoto, crappy camera w/autofpcus taking a pic of the tree and not the train, etc...)
Well, school's out, and now it's time to study! The weather isn't the worst for railfanning, there's sun at times, and it's not too dark. So I might tomorrow.

  • I think the Railfanning sounds like a plan for me also. I'm thinking of going to South Itasca in Superior Wisconsin. Atleast thats what Kale and Max want to do. They keep saying that they listen to more trains running to and from there than any other place in Duluth, Superior. (not true) I think Saunders and Boylston are the best but Pacientence is not a virtue with those two. (sigh) How do I get stuck railfanning with those two Dorks... but it looks so gloomy here in Duluth.. I hope the weather changes (every month or so). So I hope to go railfanning this weekend also. Max and Kale.... give me a call whenever.

  • Dang! It's been busy since I was last here! Almost a complete new page.

Now that you mentioned that there is a 'newer' Nikon D70, that might be the one my friend was mentioning about being expensive. I was refering to the old one. He says going rates on D70s are at least $800 but I don't know if he's talking about the newer version or older. Probably the new one.

School was fairly "acceptable" today. I've had about enough of my Language Arts/Engli***eacher and how she'll always yell at me if I don't do something the second she tells me, literally!! It's very frusterating! She's the only one I have a problem with, the rest are cool (not really).

Well, with the abrupt weather change from blizzrd to sunshine it looks like me and my friend will be heading to Greenwich and Willard this Saturday!!! Finally, let's just hope the sunshine stays!!!

And by the way, I'm not one to judge right off [:o)], welcome jdirelan, I hope you enjoy it here in TEEN RAILFAN PLACE and the rest of the forums!

The double standard is pretty bad on rp.net. They'll let so many so-so shots on that are overexposed or just not intresting but reject when somebody wants to think out of the box.
    If you guys want to take a look, here are my rp.net pics;

I just started trying to post last monday and about 3/4 of shots have been accepted but they rejected my three favorites. Can somebody refer me to a good site where I can post all my stuff.

I decided to only to post my new stuff on rp.net. I have about three years worth of slides (including Cajon, Utah, Altoona, California) and I don't feel like scanning them in.
  • oscaletrains- No, don't take it personally or anything! We're not ignoring you. There's alot of times I feel that way too. There's some things you post where others just don't have anything to say. So please stick around. Guys, let's from now on try not to ignore others. Please stay oscaletrains, we all like you! In fact there was a couple times I asked about you. So don't go! We won't ignore you.

I heard it's only supposed to drizzle or be cloudy this Saturday, so the plans must be on unless there's some sort of dramatic change. Anyways, this might be my last post for today! Darn Avg/Day score!!!!!
