TEEN RAILFAN PLACE-LET'S TALK TRAINS! Thread Locked

  • Ugg, Finally Friday. Unfortunately for me though, Friday doesn't signal the end of the work I've got. I've got three projects due early next week and finals Wednesday-Friday next week. I'm going to be really tired by the end of next week.......

Good news is though that I may get to go railfanning tomorrow. It will mean I will have to spend all day Sunday working on homework, but, I think it'll be worth it if I get to foaming again.

I'm about dead on my chair. Sleep won't come early enough tonight. I've had 5 tests over the last three days, and none of these were the finals even!! The good news is that every test was over 95%, with a few hundreds even. So I'm happy my hard work paid off, but boy am I tired......

  • I'm sure they want to get rid of them because of there 20 cylinder "gas" hog engine. There going with better fuel economic locomotives but that doesn't mean there selling SD45 for cheap. But I don't understand the loco that had the brand new paint scheme.

  • Well, I am feeling much better today, and I just got a new book titled " The History of North American Rail ", from Barnes and Noble for only $20. 400 and some odd pages, great photos as well as stories. Also got the latest issue of The Railroad Press, and still waiting for another book, "ALCo's to Allentown." Other than that, nothing else went on today, I slept really late, and then went to Barnes and Noble, and went home after that. I am looking at The Railroad Press right now, and man, Mike Bednar is a really good author, even for four pages. I plan on getting his book "Railroaders of the Lehigh Valley." I recommend that you go out and get that book I just got, The History of North American Rail

  • Got my board, am about to sart putting my trains on it soon. won't be able to post for a couple of days
    bye
  • I don't remmeber at all the number but a friend in Superior has the picture of the locomotive and I might beable to get the picture from him and show you. I will see what I can do. I saw the locomotive on the first week November when I was heading for Milwaukee for a train show. I know that there was an IC GP35 behind it but besides that I don't remember alot.
Sorry if i've upset you in anyway but I saw it and I can't deny it but it gave me the same impression. If CN wants to get rid of there SD45's why would they paint the one?

I've got a question also. When did the Wisconsin Central become the Wisconsin Central?

That drawing of SD45 6618 is almost done and I hope to have it posted here in the next couple days.

And Max what are you talking about the Turbocharger?

  • This SD45 thing is gitting out of conrol!!!! Both sides are correct. They are keeping many because there isn't enough GEVO's to replace the SD45.
QUOTE: I've got a question also. When did the Wisconsin Central become the Wisconsin Central?

James i have the answer, according to my WC EMPLOYEE COMMEMERATIVE "PULLUNG TOGETHER" HANDBOOK, the Wisconsin Central Limited started in 1987 with 2,000 route miles of soo line, revenew baise of $ 85 million, 36 trains per day on average, 660 employees, 85 locomotives, and 2,900 rail cars they lasted for only 14 years untill 2001. IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE ORIGINAL wisconsin central that was absorbed in to the soo line i belive but don't quote me on this, in the late 1800's to early 1900's. (for proof of the original w.c. look on the back of the Soo 2500, the w.c. sublettering on the rear of the unit isn't for st[censored]t's and giggles[:I])

Any way having troubble with the tamper picks and scanner, they be coming soon.

  • Ok guys... i think there has been enough said about this SD45 stuff. I'm down here in LaCrosse Wisconson for the next few days (till wed) so i will probably be on alot. The Soo line merged the Wisonsin Centeral into it in 1960. In fact it was a merger of the "old soo" , WC, and the DSS&A. The MN&S was merged in 1982. We still have a "MN&S Job" that works the west side of Minneapolis. Although most of their former trackage is now serviced by Progressive Rail. I dont belive any former DSS&A trackage is left... except i think Stinson yard in superior was DSSA.. and there isnt much WC trackage left either.. the dresser line.. maybe some stuff east....
  • Jeez, thanks James! Lol, im the WC one remember [sigh][banghead][;)][:P]!
Not to condridict you, but im pretty sure that the CN ( the IC for that matter ) retired all of the GP35's long ago. Are you 100 % positive it was an SD45?

  • Thanks for the update, there Kale. Kale is right about the SD45 topic. It's getting old. We need to move on and talk about other things such as our model railroads.
