Actually, it's a U36B, and according to my sources, it is retired. So is HLS1. The fact that my sources are unreliable means I'm doomed to failure. But I know it's a 36B and not a 23B.

With that being said, the average age of users of this thread is about to drop significantly.

    Goodbye.

  • ill run a trace on the WLO1 hold on

  • Alec, I like the new signature, must better than the old one. WC, SD45s and snow, what more can you want?

Well guys, not much from me today. Just another day at school although I do have a little more work to do tonight. And I have some Spanish and Engli***o study for tonight(Talk about confusing!).

  • CURSES! The WLO1 and HLS1 are retired? Man, those were good locos. As far as I knew, the HLS1 was still in operation in 2001. So says my CSX "Locomotive" Book. Although HLS1 was getting obsolete due to being an SD45-2, now with the new ACs' around. And as far as I'm concerned, obsolete or not, the WLO1 should've stayed. I liked that!

Now, is there any signs of CSX 9122 or 9121 (both Chessies'; I saw 9121) retiring. Those Chessies' are really old looking. I forget the years they were built. And how about the CSX 4617 (C&O Paint; I also saw), is it retiring?

    Thanks

Well, as far as I know/am concerned, the C&O unit is here to stay for a while. They haven't retired too many of the SD40's, so only time can tell. CSX's experiment with remote controlled "droids" is fairly new, so I don't see the Chessie's being retired anytime soon. Maybe reapainted, but not retired.(I hate that word "repainted." [:(])

    Adult out.

  • HLS1 and WLO1 are retired due to they are not in active service not running around from Augusta to Greenwood to Hamlet and to other places. They are only TEST units not running around units like the ACe's thats probaly why they are presumed retired. The Chessie's are RC units I belive they are 9120,9121,9122 that would be bad if they retired them when they are RC units.C&O 4617 is in good shape besides the paint it also sounded good sitting in Augusta while Q197 was passing by and is still being used on our (CSX locals in Augusta) locals,I saw it being lead by a CSX SD50 on a short local(still haven't seen it leading dang) but its got another 5 years on him or hopefully more.SBD 4601 is also here in Augusta mostly shifting and rock (I belive when he is leading its empty) easy jobs atleast I hope so I don't want a Seaboard System SD40 toaster then it goes to Waycross and bites the dust with a vist from Mr.Torch he got 5 years or more but theres 11 left of the current CSX SD40's.

where is Seaboard System 2667 the other fallen flag brother of 4601

  • Alec, I bet you've had MSTS longer than i have..but I WILL get the full route soon! (After I fini***he upgrades and get MSTS working) And the new pic is awesome!
I think I have my mum convinced to buy some more RAM and an external HD, but it's going to be costly..
Today I got a book, Stand Fast Craigellachie. It's got a lot of colout photos of CP, and it's really neat!
Late last night I decided to test my Atlas C-424s. Two of them can pull 23 cars and one of those Walthers track cleaner cars up a 2.4% grade with 24" curves! These locos are amzing!
I then continued to build up the train until it had the C-424s and a GP35 on the head and 3 SD40-2s midtrain helping on the grade. Then I tried to run it using the SD40-2s on the head end, but they stringlined into a canyon..cars 5,6,7 and 8 fell into Red Rock Canyon..
Now to find some more MSTS patches to occupy my time..
