Yes, I am going on a cab ride with the Wheeling & Lake Erie this Sunday for a few miles and back!!!!!! Hopefully, the locomotive will be one of their 3,000 hp, SD40-3 Rebuilds. Can't wait!!!!

Hey guys, Glad to see we have found a new spot with Bergie's Graces(and I thank him for leaving the thread up for a little while at least so I knew what was going on).

Oscaletrains, I've personally seen the Flying Scottsman. I took a trip with my Dad over to England this last summer(Which was a lot of fun by the way), and he was nice enough to take me to the National Railway Museum, Britan's biggest railroad museum, in York, England. That is where the Flying Scottsman is housed, and they run excursions out of there. Unfortunately it was in the backshop and wasn't running when we were there, but I was at least able to see it.

There's also an awesome Model Railroad Museum in York, practially in the York Railroad Station. It's an awesome layout, a neat example of English Model railroading, and it also had a fairly large gift/hobby shop that I got a British Caboose from. I could run it on my MRR if I wanted too, but the couplers don't match. If we ever get back to England I'm going to buy a Working locomotive of some sort. I can post shots of the Caboose if anyone is interested.

And Alec, you'll be interested to know. When I was over in England, there is a railroad there called the EWS. It was once owned by the WC, and it's paint scheme is definately inspired by the WC's, it's Maroon and Gold.

Edit Matt, Just a thought, but you might want to copy(with Chris's permission) or paraphrase what the first post in the original Teen Railfan Place says. Otherwise new members might not understand what your first posts means or what the topic is for. Also maybe add a few ground rules, like no IMing, flaming, casual swearing, ect? Just a suggestion, you can do with it what you think sounds good.

Yes, they are a neat railroad. I hear they recently ordered (Well, within the last 10 years) a bunch of SD40 type locos with different bodies from GMDD in ontario.

so thanks guys i got alot of info about the flying scottsman thanks to you guys. by the way why dont you make a coupler out of wire and put it on top of a old long horn or somthing you know. and make a converstion car. theirs an idea. anyways i have to eat good night.

If I get your idea(You are talking about model couplers, putting wire on horn-hooks and the other end looping around the knucke coupler?) it would probably slip off when there was slack.

I have absolutely NO idea how to model couplers! I'm a better railfanner than model railroader. To me, railfanning is more fun, because you're dealing with the actual thing, where model railroading is just models, instad of the real thing!! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE model railroading, but I'm just saying I like railfanning better!!!!!

(Probably because I love working with cameras and enjoyng the fresh air, etc.)

Oscaletrains, European couplers(the models, not the real things) are much different from anything found in the US, nothing like Kadee's or Horn Hook couplers. I belive they are known as the "Hook and Loop" style, or something like that anyway. Basically, the couplers have a loop on them, and there is a hook that extends out beyond that loop slightly. It is made to piviot up and down, so when another car is backed into it, the hook moves upward, and goes over the closest part of the loop before comming down again. When both cars do this, a good coupling is made, and the cars can be easily backed up for moved forward.

It's actually kind of hard to describe, and I somehow doubt I did a very good job. But, I will be sure to post pictures of the couplers when I get pics of the rest of the car up.

Well guys, I'm heading out for the night. I more than likely won't be in tomorrow either, as I'm going to a meeting of my local module Club. Were hoping to get the layout fully wired and assembled for the first time, and maybe even run a train all the way around the loop. It really will be a big accomplishment considering the group has only been around for about a year.

Matthew, admit, do you like school??? Because a good majority of everyone I talk to says they don't or didn't. Just curious.

Also, what exactly do you mean by "but only if there are trains!" Are you saying you don't like to railfan as much as MR when it is a slow day out?

O' boy I'm gonna go rail fanning tomorrow maybe! Im not sure ! I might go get some cheese burgers and sit by the tracks I've got one pic left on my camera! I guess I'll waist one on that lol! Oh, I hate school. Especially online school. I'm taking both, and so I have a normal week of school followed by a test on sturday, then 10 hours of programming the lights on sunday..
And a long day sitting by the tracks being bored isn't as fun as getting a few feet of ballast down. Not by a long shot. Walking along the tracks, yes, but just sitting....all alone...with nothing to do...

In the English city of York, there is a very big railroad museum, and a model railroad museum next door . It's really sweet!
