Location, location, location in real estate; composition, composition, composition in photography. Liked A but it is too busy going in too many directions with two different subjects and other distractions. Too "model" perspective to be a grabber.
B on the other hand is well composed and more realistic.

I went with A also but I would like to know exactly what camera and lens was used for the shots. They say the Canon Digital Rebel but which one? They make two, the Rebel and the Rebel XT. The Rebel is the 300D and the Rebel XT is the 350D. And I didn't see what lens was used for the shots either. There are several lenses that have 135mm in their range as well as manufacturers.

I liked A better. Two engines, two guys...all it needed was two cars to round it out...double your pleasure!!!

If I had to vote for one, I guess photo A.

Both are pedestrian, at least the yard shot shows some action and good composition.

Although the CP photo is an action shot, the photographer skillfully made it look like a roster shot.

Sorry to be so harsh, I just expect more from the staff at Trains. This is amateur
photography.

Two interesting photos. I chose 'A' 'cause I love to see train yards full of track and switches and maybe even some confusion. Now 'B' is also interesting because it looks to be cold and the train driver must be content knowing he/she does not have to exit the nice warm cab, but the other person does. Rank has its privilege. I now live in the sunny south (Florida) but remember winters in New Hampshire. I enjoy this competition and the quality of the locations and camera work. I am a NIKON digital guy and wonder how I ever managed with film. All things change with time. Good work fellows and Merry Christmas to all.

So, shot B was shot in Milwaukee...You have industrial strength winter weather up there. My vote for the CP units holds. I favor motive power over most other topics, in that locomotives don't give you a hard time when you take a picture of them and they generally look better than the people on/near them! Picture A didn't show enough of the SD39s, strictly a matter of taste.

It was "B" for me this time. If I could have seen a little more of the train behind the engine on the right in "A" the result might have been different.

Both shots "dramatic"? Looks like an interesting story in shot A. It's just that the one red loco stood out. So, after some agonizing, I picked shot B.

Both are very good shots and both are deserving of a win.

"A" is interesting as it is a yard shot and shows two locos. I feel sorry for those guys though, even if they get in one of those loco those things just are not very warm.

"B" is more my style though.

Santa Fe all the way pic A beautiful shot i grew up in dallas tx ATSF lines across the street and in the back yard the ole katy MKT those were the days
my old home now sit across the street from an empty road bed [old Santa Fe tracks ripped up] and in the back yard DGNO [Dallas Garland & northeastern] run the line now & then
