Horn Questions

  • I have a question about horn signals...although I found out earlier what 2 shorts mean, what does one short mean, and what does three shorts mean? I heard these signals during a switching operation.

  • A single short for whistle signals doesn't show up in the rule book. It used to indicate track one for switching maneuvers, but I think they've gone to radios now and don't use this.

Three shorts is the back up signal.

  • Another interesting fact about whistles or horns there are usualy 5 of them ;this is to create a dis-harament cord which is to say not melodic; so it will get your attention ;if it was a sweat sounding horn you might think of it as music and ignoor it [}:)][8][xx(][:)][:P]>>>>>glennbob
