What is your favorite railroad line?

  • DRGW, SP , Cotton Belt andMilwaukee Road
    Rio Grande forever
  • Canadian Pacific Railway bar none, has retained it's independence since 1881, and still Spans The World. Second would be CEMR (Central Manitoba Railway) which is a local Manitoba shortline owned by Cando Contracting, they own the Carman and Pine Falls subdivisions. Third would be CN, though since privatization they have become too American for my liking, but it's still Canadian National Railways.

    TMC (CNR Mixed train GMD1 1063 with combine coach) (Remember always at Railway X-ing's, (Stop, Look and Listen!)
  • Lehigh Valley! Route of the Black Diamond, with props to the Rutland, Central Vermont, Nickel Plate, DL&W and New Haven!

  • Good old Spokane, Portland, and Seattle.  Followed very closely by the Milwaukee Road.

    maybe you're just sick and tired of seeing BNSF so much?  you prefer ATSF's scheme to BNSF's much like i prefer CNW's to UP's. that said, i dont think BNSF's scheme is the ugliest ever. but to each his own.

    myself? i'm a fan of those eastern schemes. CSX and NS. awesome

  • The SP(UP) out of El Paso.  You've got  the Sunset Route and the Golden State Route.  Can't beat that with a stick!

  • The "old" Illinois Central. Not todays CN/IC and definitely not the ICG, but the IC when it still was "The Main Line of Mid-America". The name I use in these forums might give you a clue as to my favorite road today.

  • I'll go with the "old" Frisco, especially the River Line. I've been over almost all of it from St. Louis to Memphis. I miss the old semaphore signals every mile, and the gray wooden stations.

    Second, of course, is the B&O.
