How do you access the Internet?

  • Dial up only practical thing available to me at this time. Live 200 feet too far from switching office to get DSL, and won;t be getting it as my exchange is supposed to be getting set up for fios. Satellite ok for download, but upload still dial up, so why bother? Refuse to deal with cable co due to screwing without the benefit of vaseline they gave me a few years ago.

I guess I just wait for fios!
  • Ka-Band, 2 way satelite broadband. Rock solid connection and speed.

    [#ditto] Me too[:D]
  • my computer on school's 2 OC3 and 1 T3 network cables, you don't want to know how much capacity. And oh yes it's shared by others . . .
"There is nothing in life that compares with running a locomotive at 80-plus mph with the windows open, the traction motors screaming, the air horns fighting the rush of incoming air to make any sound at all, automobiles on adjacent highways trying and failing to catch up with you, and the unmistakable presence of raw power. You ride with fear in the pit of your stomach knowing you do not really have control of this beast." - D.C. Battle [Trains 10/2002 issue, p74.]
  • SBC DSL

    Pretty fast.[8D]

Wadda ya mean I'm old ? Just because I remember gasoline at 9 cents a gallon and those big coal burning steamers.

  • Running High speed 512K DSL on Windows98.
    Allan.
  • I'm with Telecom ( New Zealands biggest connection supplier ) 6 times faster than dialup.

    Ken.
  • I have cable now, it sure beats dialup, and the price is slowly coming down.

I had dialup for three years. It just takes to long to load large files.

I have T-1 at work, but I keep my internet access to a bear minimum. Even though our employee recreation association's model railroad club does allow a certian amount of internet access for the club, I don't want to abuse it.

    Can I change my answer?
Last night, I got internet at home!!! Not as good as at school([:0]) but still without the blocker in place and teachers hovering around. Plus, another thing to do on saturday morning before I can go to my LHS.

  • I have 56K dialup at home-no option for me as I live too far out in
the mountains for anything as advanced as cable or DSL. I also
have a broadband connection at work, though my time there is
limited-for some reason they would rather that I actually do some
    work there![swg]
