Does anyone know of a good reference - either web site or printed reference that details the differences among the various locomotive truck designs - Blomberg, AAR, bolsterless, etc.?

Yes. The Diesel Spotters Guide by Kalmbach details all the differences as well as nearly all the models.

If you want scale drawings , that just show you what they look like , try here, but it doesnt sound like you need to tell what they look like, just how to identify them.
