TEEN RAILFAN PLACE- LETS TALK TRAINS !

  • Hi all,

I am an older teen railfan (17). My favorite lines are the SOO, Milw, WC, and the BNSF. I do most of my railfanning in the Mpls area, but I have traveled to Pittsburgh at gotten some great NS action. Here is link to some of my pictures -http://wc_sd45_7500.rrpicturearchives.net/ . My camera is 30 years old, but it can still shoot better then most digitals. One of my favorite place to take pictures is on the Soos former main in NE Mpls, Shoreham Hill. Just check out my sight and tell me what you think.

    Thanks,
    Douglas H

Long live the Soo Line, WC, SD45s, and any remaining standard cab EMDs on todays class 1s!
  • Chris, congrats on getting the benchwork worked on for the club. It's gratifiying when a club you belong to accomplishes something, isn't it? My module club got a good amount of there modules set up together at the last meeting, and we are now starting to look like something instead of nothing. I saw your photos on rail pics too, nice shots!!! Lombard-- that's on the same line as the one through West Chicago, right? I was to West Chicago once, saw two trains in like 45 minutes, and it's definately on my list to go to the next time I get to Chicago.

I guess I'll just be patient then Alec, hopefully rrpicturearchives will respond soon though. But I can wait.

Matt, I doubt that bridge you saw is the longest in the world, there is one in New Orleans Lousiana called the Huey P. Long bridge, it's 4.5 miles long with a 1.2% grade in each direction. It's at least the longest bridge on the continent, according to my sources. I got to see it once, and even see a train move accross it from a distance, it was really awesome!! Sometime I'll get down there to actually photograph it. We used to get to New Orleans once every few years, as I have an aunt down there, but now I don't think we will be going back for a few years at least.......

I've been submitting a few old shots that were rejected the first time at Railpic's, got two of them in, both of the WSOR. If you want to see them follow the last link in my signature. I also managed to get the lawn raked, so I can concentrate on getting some work on my module done tomorrow. My main goal is to get the plaster rough terrain down.

Well guys, I better get going, supper is ready.

  • Douglas, Welcome!! You do have some awesome shots there, and they strike my heart being a WC fan and wisconsin resident. I also like the Former MILW SOO photos, I only wish I had been born early enough to see the MILW.

Noah, yes we have been restoring our building for 4 years, it is nice to be doing something model train related. But hey, we are all EXPERT contranctors now [;)]

I managed to do some railfanning tooday, and am uploading some pics now.

Matthew, I envy you, I LOVE SNOW!!!!!!!! yes, I spranged my finger, but luckily not my camera finger. [:D] I can type better now cuz I am typing slower...
  • Oh yeah, NOah thanks for the cudos on the pics. You get any new ones in lateley??
  • ouch a sprained finger oh well you will get over it then I have had a fractured pinkey, wrist(atleast 5 times my right one has the most I think)also a twisted ankel, toe injury(girl kicked me while I was wearing sandels and she was wearing tennis shoes),busted lip, pulled groin(going to trash can from desk in 2003 and somehow pulled it).

thats all I can think of

  • Yeah I had two into railpictures earlier today. I'm going to appeal one shot right now. It's of a peice of MoW equipment, in full evening sun, and they called it Bad Motive. I want a second opinion. I'm also going to look through my old files and see if I can't find a few good shots to submit.

    Noah

  • Hey guys, there is quiete a fiasco over at the trains mag forums, so dude named "private" is posting like 6 topics about derailments in Ohio.
  • Matt, It comes with a lot of time shooting crappy shots to finally realize what types of shots railpictues wanted. I've learned to be a little more picky about where I take my shots, either it has to be a fairly dramatic photo, or it has to be well lit and the like. Don't worry, you'll catch on too soon enough. I actually thank railpictures.net for the reason I do take such good shots, they've taught my how to take good, well composed photos(and how to use a photo editor!!).

I've got to go check out this Trains mag forum thing now, but I'll be back!!

  • Yeah, some girl from Tennessee...you figured her out yet Noah?

  • I've got absolutely no clue on what's happening over there(I see it, I laughed at some of the replies, I was confused), although hopefully Bergie will come sort it out soon.

Well guys, I think I'm heading off for the night. I want to get up early to work on the module. It's been good chating with you all though!! I've got two photos floating at Railpics, let's hope they get in, one of them might make number 50!!

    Noah
  • Yeah, this "Private" girl is getting really out of hand. I also sent Bergie an email, hope he works weekends!
Noah, why shoot for railpictures? I shoot for myself, railpictures is second. I'd rather have pictures I enjoy that aren't on railpictures than pics that are on railpictures and I only kinda like. Though I wouldn't say no to either!
