Can anyone help with train symbols and engine numbers? We meet a train driving home and meeting speed was about 120 mph so I didnt get all the engine numbers. They share this on trainorders.com and I've asked about this before a little and no one replies. You can email me at cory_33@msn.com if you would like.
All trains were seen in between Emporia and Newton KS.
EB containers-lead engine BNSF 4619
EB Manifest-lead engine BNSF 123
EB TOFC probably a Z train-lead engine BNSF 4873
And we saw Amtrak #4 at 2:00 PM or so when it should be there at 4:30 in the morning. THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

Normally when the dispatchers and head end engine crews are talking to each other they use the engine number.
On the EB manifest train with engine BNSF123, it sounds like the symbol would have been MNEWEMP121. In english from railroadeze it becomes M=Regular Merchandise; NEW=Newton, KS; EMP=Emporia, KS; 1=first section; 21=departing on the 21st of the month.
Hope this helps.
Regards Gary
