Need Information

  • I hope someone out there can help me! My brother is trying to find out what his American Flyer train set is worth, if he decides to sell it. He received it when he was a little boy and he's 63 now.

I'm listing the information he gave me below. I'm not into trains very much, so if you have any questions, PLEASE e-mail me. I will get the answer from my brother.

This is a Gilbert American Flyer Tru-Model train. It's die cast in miniature to HO scale. Locomotive cars, tracks and remote control. Developed at the Gilbert Hall of Science. The A.C. Gilbert Company, New Haven, Conn.

The transformer: Rectifier unit with speed control. To operate scale model train direct from house current. Mantua Metal Products Co Inc. Woodbury Heights, NJ.

There is also a 5x9 Plywood track. I believe the cars (or some) are in the original boxes.

If you can give us an approximate price of what it might be worth, or have any questions, PLEASE e-mail me at: arlenef1949@yahoo.com.

    Thanks!!!

  • I tried to respond to you but my e-mail came back as "no such address".
  • Box it up and head for the next major train show in your area.
