OK, we've cover steam loco favorites, how about the caboose?

  • [?]I missed out on the steam era, but do recall the end of use for the belittled caboose. Was there a better paint scheme than the Nickel Plate's "High Speed Service" caboose in red and white?[?]
long, long, short, long. Thumbs Up

  • I like LV's "Route of the Black Diamond" written out on a Northeastern caboose, But Im biased.
  • I also liked the LV cabooses. We have one at Steamtown that was restored by a boy scout a few years ago, but the paint is beggining to fail. It's still a nice caboose.[:)]
  • I don't know what would be my favorite. The santa fe had a good memorable paint
    scheme.
  • Acton CA has about 7 unused cabooses sitting around. Iv'e acouple of times seen a
UP train with a caboose on the back, although it's rare. The caboose is so much better
    than the ugly ETD.
  • I agree with traingang. The Nickle Plate scheme has to be the best.As for caboose types,I choose the PRR N5C,with the round portholes on the side. This caboose was immortalized by Lionel, with thousands made,in many paint schemes[:D].
Ride Amtrak. Cats Rule, Dogs Drool.
  • Any SP or SSW bay window caboose would be my favorite.
    Regards Gary
  • Well first, any caboose would be a favorite.
Favorite paint schemes would be;"Chessie System",
    especially the "Safety" schemes.
