Help with attaching accessories to fastrack

  • I am new to model railroading and have a question about attaching accessories to lionel fastrack. Some accessories say that they need to be between 11-15 volts and others 15-18 V, however, if I attach them to the connections on the bottom of the track, won't they get different voltages? Is there any way to fix this other than getting many accessory power packs for the accessories...I'd like to attach the accessories to the track if possible? I appreciate any help anyone can give, thanks.

  • Hi trackburr,

    Welcome to the Trains forum

If the accessories that you wi***o use are requiring 15 to 18 volts, then you should be using the fixed accessory voltage to operate them. If your transformer does not have this, then you either have to add a second transformer or up grade to one that does have fixed accessory voltage taps on it.

The only way to use track current is if you are using one of the command systems that use a constant 18 volts.

BTW – most of the O gauge, (Lionel) train people hang out on the CTT part of this forum, here is the link
