Amtrak E9a #403 (former B&O #1457)

  • Please help me. I am trying to find an old E9a that origionally worked on the B&O in the Metro Detroit area. My grandfather worked on it and has a picture. As far as I can tell by visiting sites, in the 1970's it was purchesed by the Amtrak after the B&O/C&O (Chessie System) merger. I would hope that you people lioving along Amtrak lines could look.

Picture can be found at: http://www.hebners.net/amtrak/amtE400/amt403.jpg with Amtrak Paint Job.

  • This locomotive is ex. Amtrak 488. I am pretty sure it use to be B&O's. I am not sure where on the line it ran though. It is coupled to 489, which use to be ex. Amtrak 489.

  • Thanks, where was picture taken??

  • The locomotive pictured above was never B&O! It is a FL-9, and was originally NEW HAVEN.
