A few weeks back I was at our local flea market for a short period on a
Sunday morning, and look at what I found,....a poster notifying the public at that time of an upcoming 100 year celebration of the B&O railroad,,, 1827 to 1927.
Of course the B&O was America's first railroad, and there is that small engine shown on the bottom right hand corner, then a bigger steam engine of that 1927 era.
Since my new model railroad layout is going to have scene of Balt on its lower level, naturally I was intrigued. And particularly since Balt was the birthplace of the American RR industry.

Interesting new Plan Consideration
Since my fictional railroad is going to be trans continental (Balt to Calif) I though this poster was very appropriate for the Balt end.
But where can I display it? ...certainly not on the interior walls of the train shed, as that will all be background vistas. I'm thinking I might be able to mount it on the exterior door of the train shed,...if I can keep the sun from long term direct contact.
The gentleman who sold me the first poster saw me wandering the flea market last weekend. He grabbed me aside to tell me he found the second one he had hidden away. Of course I could not resist,...
Now I have to find a few better frames,...and figure out where i can mount them,...
Then just this past weekend I visited an estate sale of a gentleman who had LOTs models and books on all sorts of subjects (regrettable his many trains had been sold off a number of years previously).
But I found a couple of big size railroad books. And one on them was title, "the History of the Baltimore & Ohio" by Timothy Jacobs.
It devoted a number of pages that described this BIG undertaking at the time, the Centenary Exhibition and Pageant of the B&O, which speedily became known in vernacular as "The Fair of the Iron Horse". Total attendance was more the 1.3 million.
