Whatever else their shortcomings might be, Alcos (especially big Alcos) and GEs are much better in the sound effects department than the bland EMDs. Here in England we've been swamped with EMDs, please send us something that sounds better than a domestic washing machine.

I have always loved the sound of a string of EMD's with the old 567 normally aspirated prime mover, gotta love that sound!
