favorite locomotive paint scheme

  • SF War Bonnet on a POLISHED E7 YEA!!!!
  • mine is the blue comet,
  • 1. The Rock Island Line '70's red and yellow diesel loco's
    2. Their blue and white late '70's "The Rock" was pretty cool, too.
    3. BNSF mid/late '90's loco's
  • My favorite paint scheme is Union Pacific #3300's red white & blue scheme. My least favorite paint scheme is the EJ&E's 750, 751, and 752.

I think it looks like something a person would wear. no offense.
Andrew Barchifowski, Glen Ellyn</font id="red">, LJ, #3300, Scott, FLODO.
  • BNSF baby they may have changed the colors of the warbonnet but it still looks nice.
Uncle Pete waving "Old Glory" sure looks nice too.

    Kraig Kasten
  • Sante Fe- Warbonnet
    BN-green/black
    Drgw-black/yellow
  • The two tone UP paint scheme looks great, and the IC business train colors (gray & black)
I love the smell of ALCo smoke in the Morning. "Long live the 251!!!" I miss the GBW and my favorite uncle is Uncle Pete. Uncle Pete eats Space Noodles for breakfast.
  • I guess I am partial to the Union Pacific's coloring, because when you approach it at night, the lining around it and the American Flag, all seem to glow in the dark.

  • Passenger:ATSF Warbonnet,with SP Daylight a close second[:)].
    Freight:SP black widow[:)].
Ride Amtrak. Cats Rule, Dogs Drool.
  • Steam: SP Daylight, N&W streamlined 4-8-4 and 4-8-2's, NYC "art deco" Hudsons. Diesel:The Warbonnet. Electric: GG1 with "cat whiskers" scheme.
  • Southern tuxedo black.
  • No contemporary paint scheme is better than the orange/black BNSF variation on the Warbonnet. My 7-year old son and I keep watching the CSX tracks here at home on Saturday mornings, just so he can get his first picture of one. He thinks it is so cool we watch for it on the Rochelle webcam. I never seem to have the camera at the right time during the week (running around town while on the job), and have missed at least three photo op's in the last year.
Favorite steam colors were the red/orange/black of the SP Daylight, a Lima native.
I did think of another newer scheme that I really like: the red/dark red of the Indiana & Ohio a few years back, with the big white lettering, was really sharp out of the paint shop. They've gone cheap with the lettering more recently, but the base colors still look good. CF&E has a couple engines running around town with a similar fresh coat that just begs for lettering.

long, long, short, long. Thumbs Up
  • I will always love and remember the paint scheme C&NW had on its C44-9Ws and AC4400CWs the most. These days since I really don't see the C&NW anymore I've become a UP fan and a C&NW fan. At first I didn't really like the UP as I'm sure a lot of us fans who have had our favorite railroads taken over don't like the buyer for a while. Now since I've gotten over it I'll say I like the scheme on the UP locos with the lighting bolt too. It reminds me of that old C&NW scheme.
  • Just back from Iraq,
gotta go with the New Haven's Orange, blue, and white
  • In my case it's a tie between the "Cascade Green" of BN and Montana Rail Links blue paint scheme.
