items of value? help!

hello. I am new to this site and am looking for a bit of help. I was given a number of gifts by a family friend over 15 years ago, and am now looking to sell these on. I am looking to know how i would go about getting these valued.
The family friend worked on the railways for over 30 years and gifted me a number of items.
There is an original inspectors hat which is definetly over 20 years old.
There is a small brass watch (not in working order) which looks rather old.
The big daddy is a large model inter city 125 which i was told when given, was one of only 3 BR commissioned to be made to promote the launch of the train. This is just over 1 metre long, wooden, and a cracking showpiece.
These are being sold for personal reasons & any advice/help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I am not familiar with the model you have mentioned but have two suggestions. One is to go to EBay and see what items are selling for. That would tend to give you fairly good idea if you could find something similar. The other is to research an historical society for the railroad the items came from. If they have a publication you could advertize there. I would tend to think that source would give you the best return but would be more time consuming.
