Can any one exemplify the following sentence with values please?
Responding To Unintentional Brake Release:
If an unintentional brake release occurs when the brakes are applied, increase the brake pipe reduction at least 5 psi below the last effectivebrake pipe reduction.
Running with 90 psi brake pipe pressure. You make a 10 psi reduction, brake pipe is now 80 psi. For some reason the brakes on the train start to release, you need to increase the reduction by another 5 psi, brake pipe now 75 psi.
A similar scenario, instead of the brakes releasing on their own you release them from a 10 psi reduction . Train line climbing from 80 psi back towards 90 psi. Before the system is fully recharged, you need to reapply the brakes. In this instance you would need to make a 15 psi reduction.
Both cases are to ensure that brakes apply throughout the train.
