Athearn diesel

  • I have an usual(?) issue with my Athearn locomotive. It is an older loco and runs fine for a couple of minutes, however, as it warms up it seems to be grounding out somewhere. I have a sound equipped power supply and when this occurs if I increase the speed on my control the sound pitch increases as well. it is an intermittent concern. None of my other locos has this issue. HELP!!!

  • If it was grounding it would create a short circuit not just stop. It is probably a loose connection. Does it do it atthe same place or turn? My first thing would be to run it without the shell and check the metal strip that rubs against the ell shaped arm above each truck. I solder a wire between them to eliminate the problem.
