BUDD RDC Car "Firestone"

  • David_Telesha back in January 2006 posted the following: "A few other points.

The New Haven had the ONLY named RDC - named FIRESTONE for an online shipper in MA. "

This car now sits idle on tracks at the the Old Colony Railroad Museum in Fall River, MA. It is/was their intention to restore it, but - being a very small operation - I don't believe they are able to raise the funds necessary to do so. When I get an opportunity, I will photograph the car and post it here in this forum. I would be interested in knowing what online shipper in MA originally had this car.

  •   The M&StL had a pair of RDC4 Budd cars with names as well.  Car 32 was names Gopher, and car 33 was named Hawkeye.   The names were in honor of the Minnesota & Iowa university athletic teams.
