Hello All! I'm new to the forum, but a long time railfan. I started out in the early-80s with an off-the-shelf Kodak camera, progressed through Minolta SLRs (X-570 and X-700), and currently railfan with a Nikon D80 DSLR. I'd like to try my hand at some video work...any recommendations for a good video camera? I'm flexible regarding format, video will be for personal use, and budget is "around" $1000-$1500. Thanks in advance for any and all input!!
Canon HF-G10. MSRP is right in the middle of your price range, full manual controls, instant auto-focus. Beautiful picture with a wide dynamic range.
Shot this with it last fall.

Thanks a million for the recommendation. BTW, that was fantastic work you did on the EBT! I haven't been up there for a few years, and I heard that it didn't run this past summer. Thanks for the memories!
Stay Well!
