Model Designation

  • What does AC45CCTE model designation stand for? I know it's an AC powered engine
    with 4500 HP, however; Google can't translate
    the designation although it shows many engines photos for that model engine.

  • From what I read about the newer units, they are still 4400 HP but this designation was used to identify them from the older AC 4400 units with the (12Cylinder) different motor.  ?The CCTE   If I remember correctly it is  "Computer Controlled Tractive Effort "software on board.       Go Figure!
