Johnny Lines (just an idea of a fictional railroad I wanted to share)

  • Johnny Lines, unlike the gigantic Terrier Pacific, is a Class III shortline that is only 55 miles long that stretches from Lake Forest to Lake bluff, and has a surplus of equipment. In fact, they have so much equiment, that if you lined each and every one up the mainline, it woulden't fit! The reason for this is that the Founder and President thought that the line was going to be huge. (For a stupid reason. He said: "Our logo pottraying the little boy Johnny will surly capture anyone's hearts and will want to give my company some extra income.") Boy was he wrong! First of all, they bought too much and wasted nearly all of their money, then, he went out of control and odered the trackage to be built right through people's backyards! This caused complaints, and the owner was forced to reduce the line. Now Johnny Lines has a small clearing house at their south end of the line in Lake Forest. Many railroads order from them, but Johnny Lines continues to operate small, 15 car transfer freights for the Union Pacific transfer in Lake Bluff. Their roster is now mostly made up of SD24s. Their typical air horn is the Leslie Supertyfon S-3L. Do you like the idea?

  • Sounds like the guys over at Johnny lines should have done a little more cost benefit analysis before they jumped out and bought all the rolling stock [;)]

    It's not really that far fetched that a small Class III would have more rolling stock than it could ever handle....

    SRY (Southern Railway of British Columbia - Sister company to Montana Rail Link) probably has way more rolling stock than it could every really realistically use on it's own right of way, but because they send cars all over North America they never end up with more of their own cars than they can handle.

    They interchange with CN CP and BNSF.

    Keep an eye out for their boxcars and centrebeam flats, the box cars are usually brown or blue and their centre beam flats are usually blue, keep an eye out for them, their reporting marks are SRY.
