Radio Frequency Question

  • I notice that IC, GTW, WC and CN all use different frequencies according to the reference I am looking at. So I would like to understand how a locomotive radio functions.  Do all locomotive radios have access to all channels or are there limited frequency choices for the engineer? Are certain engines excluded from certain lines because of the radio requirements?  Does say CN now convert all the others to its frequencies so they are compatible?  Thank you.

The radios on the engines can be tuned to any other railroads frequencies, just push the buttons.
